Great hotel, just not on this occasion.
We had stayed at this hotel regularly for years and year however this experience was not a great one. The room we were located in had an awful drainage smell, when asked if we could change room, we were told no and the cleaner came as tipped loads of bleach down the bathroom plug and sink and said leave that for a few hours and it will be fine, The smell did not go away.
The double room was very cramped and small, we also had an awful view, something was blocking our window (a plantroom/roof of the foyer or something), the roof was filthy and this made the small room even more suffocating. We could not open the window's which did not help the feeling of claustrophobia.
Lastly, generally it is very rare that I have trouble sleeping, on this occasion we were located above or beneath (not sure) a machine or commercial air conditioning unit which meant for the whole day and night, there was an awful humming noise which was so loud it did not allow us to sleep. Like I say, I am not a light sleeper, so mild noise does not usually affect my sleep, but this noise was awful and as it was waking me up every hour or so or not allowing me to settle, in the middle of the night I did not want to ask to change rooms and move around at such early hours of the morning.
Due to the disruptive sleep, we both woke up with the worst headache and were obviously tired due to the lack of sleep.
When discussed with the reception, they were polite and apologetic, but this stay was the worst yet.
