"The facility is very clean and has a relaxing atmosphere. The onsens were excellent and definitely a highlight of the stay. However, the kaiseki dinner was somewhat disappointing. The dishes lacked flavour, and many of them had a softer, mushy texture. The pacing of the meal could also be improved — there was about a 45-minute wait between courses, which felt quite long. In addition, there were occasional odours noticeable during food service that slightly detracted from the overall dining experience. The staff were courteous, but at times seemed less familiar with the details of the dishes, which made it difficult to fully appreciate the meal. Overall, while there were some positive aspects, the experience did not fully meet expectations for the price."

"Large and comfortable bed. In room onsen was fantastic and large enough for the two of us. Very friendly staff."

"The atmosphere is perfect for time to relax and be out of the hectic city life. Bed was very comfortable. Onsen was beautiful and very relaxing, they have an indoor and outdoor one as well as a private one to rent. Bus system was easy to use nearby to get you to Hakone station/loop. Reasons I didn’t rate 5 star is no shower in room, only public shower in onsen area. Also not many food choices nearby. Lastly, it’s a very steep decline to actual hotel from bus stop which makes for a steep climb to get out to get back to bus stop. "

"We had a wonderful two-night stay at Hakone Yutowa. The location is excellent, just a few minutes’ walk from the Hakone-Gora station. The hotel offers a calm, pleasant atmosphere with beautiful greenery and trees throughout the grounds. While communication in English was occasionally a challenge, the staff remained incredibly friendly and professional. We thoroughly enjoyed both the public and private onsens. Our room was spacious, spotless, and well-equipped. The complimentary snacks and beverages were also a fantastic perk that added extra value to our stay, along with the restaurant onsite."

"This was our favourite stay for our whole Japan trip. We stayed at 3 other hotels. This place and area is unbeatable and i wish I would’ve booked a second night. I didn’t know that I would want to live this day again. The staff were ridiculously kind and helpful. At the end of our stay, I asked which bus and where I should take to get to Hakone-Yumi to and she literally left her post and started running to help me catch the bus. My son enjoyed free ice cream from the vending machine (which he loved). The band in the lobby before dinner was such a nice touch. The dinner and breakfast were perfect. Honestly, just the perfect relaxing spot for us. Would go back for sure. "

"Hotel was set against beautiful mountains with green lush landscape all around. The onsen was a wonderful treat at the beginning and end of each day. Rooms were traditional and clean with very nice bathroom toiletries. The food was amazing and delicious. Service was friendly and attentive. "

"Although needing a train to access this place massively exceeded our expectations. The apartment was enormous with the luxury of a private semi outdoor thermal bath & a sauna. For a family of 5 this was absolutely perfect, very glad we chose here & not the other older hotels in the area"

"I think the hotel was not as good as we expected. We arrived tired -after a wedding in Tokyo - and the check in staff grill you with so many questions “what time for dinner” (but there are limited options so you don’t have much choice), “what time for breakfast tomorrow”, same thing for the following days … they even asked “what time do you want housekeeping tomorrow?”! And then they said they had a spa - I said I’d like a massage and they said they were all booked for our dates! But no one had communicated with me in advance to offer massage services so I could book. Also the dinner both nights repeated “Main Meal 1” (their term) -despite the affectation of being so custom. Finally as we checked out we found someone’s socks in the drawer behind the safe deposit box! "
