A perfect night stay

We absolutely loved our night in Queen Mary’s Chamber, so comfortable sitting in the lounge with the fire roaring. Such a privilege to be able to also explore all of the inside of this wonderful castle. Also really enjoyed exploring the outside at night with the castle all light up.

Wonderful

We enjoyed our stay immensely! It was so nice to be able to wander around the castle at our own pace exploring. Katarina who checked us in, gave us a very informative history of the castle and made sure we were all settled in. We only wish we had been able to partake in the dinner being made by a private chef but he was on holiday, maybe next time!

Such an amazing place to stay

I stayed for two nights, before and the night of my wedding. Everything was spotless and tidy! It’s such a pretty place and made even better by the fact there’s a gorgeous view no matter where you are in the castle. Couldn’t fault Neidpath in any way.

Wonderful experience

The area and property is so beautiful, it is like being in a fairytale. Although it is an historical property it was clean and had everything we required. It was the highlight of our trip to the UK

Wondering stay

We had an amazing one night stay at Neidpath. We felt very lucky to get the whole castle to ourselves. Everything was perfect and they had left us snacks, smoked salmon for breakfast and toiletries. Customer service was very attentive!

Breathtaking

From beginning to end we thoroughly enjoyed every moment. The bed was very comfortable, the fridge was well stocked with a varied selection. The views from the window was outstanding looking down at the river Tweed. Overall, amazing experience and we certainly did not want to leave.

A Very Special Stay

We booked Neidpath Castle for our wedding and it was everything we hoped for and more. It is simply an incredible venue, we fell in love with the castle and we think our guests did too! Our stay in Queen Mary's Chamber was perfect; a four-poster bed, a beautiful bath and stunning views across the River Tweed. We had our own kitchenette where we could prepare our breakfast using the generous supplies left by the Neidpath team. The team are fantastic and helped make our stay so very special. Everything was perfect.

A very unique experience

Staying at Neidpath very much surpassed my expectations. It was very interesting to have the entire castle to ourselves and explore the areas, use the kitchen and retreat to our cozy space when desired. How nice to have a real fire, and we appreciated all the generous provisions for breakfast. On the day we left, they let us keep our bags there for a while and walk along the tweed while we waited for our next stay to come available. Thank you!

Rare Experience

Not very often that you get a chance to stay in a piece of history, like the castle Neidpath...let alone have the entire castle to yourself. The Experience was not only unique but memorable. If Medieval history is something you are into then staying at Neidpath needs to be on your bucket list. Highly recommended!

A Wedding Suite Dream!

The pictures online don’t do this chamber justice! My now husband absolutely loves the ambience of a fireplace accompanied with a glass of whiskey. Neidpath makes sure that you have all your questions answered and even gives reading guides on how to use everything properly if you so need. We did that both nights during our stay and had a throughly stocked pantry in our room thanks to the Neidpath crew! Again, they adhere to any dietary need you may have taking the stress right off! The bedroom itself has a comfortable bed and a range of seating options for getting ready and reading. We felt super cozy in our room and the views are absolutely incredible from any point of the castle! We can’t recommend this as a wedding stay and venue enough!

Feel like Royalty!

What better way to dial back in time and experience life in a castle? Who hasn’t dreamed of doing so? Dark and old, obviously, with multiple stairs and there may be bats and ghosts so not for the faint of heart. Was awoken to a crash which the caretaker confirmed may have indeed been a visit from a ghost, so a sound sleep may not be had by a light sleeper. The bed and bedding are comfortable and high quality and makings for breakfast was left for us. If it’s a memorizable stay with a short walk into town along the River for a meal and the chance to live a fairytale than this is your place!

Wonderful, truly unique and unforgettable experience

We stayed for 2 nights in Neidpath Castle to celebrate a 60th birthday. As we have a great interest in history and especially Scottish castles, it seemed like the perfect place to stay. We did have very high expectations but everything about our stay exceeded our expectations. Everything was just as described however both the castle and the Queen Mary's Chamber were bigger than we expected. It really was wonderful to stay in such an opulent suite and to be able to explore the castle at will. Being the castle's only (living) residents greatly enhanced the experience. We were very glad that we opted for the private dinner on our second night, served by the lovely Chris at the dining table in our suite. Each of the 3 courses was truly delicious and the portion sizes were very generous. There is an extensive menu from which you pre-book your choices a week or so before you go. We would definitely recommend staying for 2 nights (or more!) to give you time to relax, enjoy and explore.

An awesome, special castle, lovely for a treat!

Excerpt from Ode To Neidpath Castle By Lord Andy of Portessie Neidpath Castle was the chosen one, A majestic fortress in the July summer sun, Upon arrival, “Is it Castle enough?” I did say, With my wife enthusiastically wailing “Yay! Yay! Yay!” Off to Queen Mary’s Chamber we did trek, Many a stair and no lift … blooming heck! Queen Mary’s Chamber is a rustic treat, With a great medieval charm that cannot be beat. But not just Queen Mary’s Chamber lay in store, For the whole of Neidpath Castle we could explore, Up to the ramparts for a River Tweed view, And down to the cellar with a well and a prison cell too. With medieval music blasting from the Marshall amp, And all the light dimmed away from the lamp, A roaring fire was set ablaze to raise a toast, To the 50th birthday of Queen Verónica of Neidpath Castle …. Oh, and also to the ghost!

Magical night in a castle!

My best friend and I got to experience what relatively few Americans will ever experience - sleeping in a real castle! What an experience! The grounds were beautiful, overlooking a flowing river and a gorgeous wooded area. The walk to the quaint town of Peebles was fabulous. Indeed, I can think of NOTHING of this one night experience for us that was amiss. We had the whole castle to ourselves. The accommodations were more than comfortable. In the room, we had a plethora of snacks and breakfast foods available for us before we checked out - strawberries, blueberries, yogurt, specialty bread, salmon, cream cheese, coffees, teas, jams... and chocolates on our bedside tables! The castle is reportedly haunted. On our way back into Edinburgh we had a few people ask if we saw the ghost who roams the castle, but unfortunately we did not. My only regret is that we did not have the castle chef prepare dinner - At 90 gbp per person, it was a bit pricey for us to consider. Anyway - 10/10! If I ever find myself back in Scotland, Neidpath Castle will be seeing me again!

Amazing Castle - all to yourself. A glimpse of what living in a castle would have been like.

We stayed in 'Queen Mary's Chamber' for a special 60th birthday treat for 2 nights in January. You are provided with the front door key to the castle and are invited to explore everywhere. Very little has been done to the fabric of the castle since the 17th century, so it is easy to imagine what life would have been like living there hundreds of years' ago. Queen Mary's Chamber is not the room that Mary, Queen of Scots would have stayed in, as the layout was changed after her visit. Where you stay is on the whole second floor of the castle, comprising a large bedroom and a large ante-room with a small pantry containing a fridge, kettle and coffee machine. This floor is heated by electric heaters and was warm in January - whilst the rest of the castle was unheated and cold. It was extremely cosy and romantic with a roaring real fire in the evenings. Please note that there is no shower, just a shower attachment on the bath. The room was not made up during our stay. The only complaints we had were relatively minor, but unexpected at a location with a premium price. (not provided with Bath sheets only large towels, only one small pot of Jam and marmalade for 2 people for 2 breakfasts, only 2 croissants ... we thought this food was just for one breakfast, but it wasn't replenished.) Overall though, the castle situation trumps everything - simply brilliant and probably unique to have such freedom to call it your own castle, even if it was only for a day or two.

A Wedding Weekend Straight Out of a Fairytale

Our wedding weekend at Neidpath Castle was nothing short of magical. Staying in Queen Mary’s Chamber was a dream. It felt like we were transported back in time, surrounded by centuries of history, yet wrapped in total comfort and luxury. We blindly booked this venue in hopes that it would be exactly what we wanted. And let me tell you, it surpassed our wildest dreams. The historic details of the room were beyond captivating. From the ancient stone walls and original wooden beams to the antique furnishings, every inch of the chamber told a story. The stone fireplace was absolutely beautiful and made our evenings feel cozy, romantic, and unforgettable. Sitting by the fire in such a historic space felt surreal, like sharing a moment with the past. We found ourselves sitting in awe taking in every moment of this extraordinary experience. Everything was impeccably clean, thoughtfully arranged, and tastefully preserved to maintain the charm of the castle while providing modern comfort. The breakfast hampers delivered each morning were a delight. They were full of fresh, delicious local goods that we looked forward to each day. It was the perfect way to start our mornings before wandering the castle grounds. Exploring the castle itself was an adventure we’ll never forget. We discovered a real stone well, tucked away like something out of legend, and even descended into the original dungeon—spooky and fascinating all at once. The top floor history room was filled with captivating information, and we loved that there were two separate entrances leading up to stunning rooftop views of the surrounding hills and River Tweed. And of course, the bar room, with its cozy ambiance and quirky charm, was the perfect place to gather with loved ones—complete with the original castle toilets that had us all grinning. Every nook and cranny of Neidpath tells a story, and it was a joy to explore it all. From the sweeping views of the River Tweed to the kind, attentive staff, every part of our experience was flawless. As an LGBTQ+ couple, we felt genuinely welcomed and celebrated, which made our time there even more meaningful. Neidpath Castle isn’t just a venue; it’s an emotional experience—timeless, soulful, and unforgettable. Sandy was a genuinely incredible host that made even this 600+ year old castle feel like our temporary home. We will never forget every wonderful moment we spent here. Thank you for preserving such a rare and special place. We can’t wait to return and relive the magic all over again.

Romantic accommodation

We stayed in the Queen Mary Chambers at Neidpath castle for our wedding. The accommodation was the perfect setting for our pre and post wedding night. The room was clean and had all the amenities we needed. It is such a romantic and beautiful setting and the bed was so comfortable. We would highly recommend staying here.

A magical and memorable stay

We took the bus from Edinburgh on a wet and dreary afternoon. When we arrived into Peebles and got to Neidpath, the sun was out without a cloud in the sky. I think that says more about how special our stay was than the weather in Scotland.

A special unique experience

We spend one night at Neidpath Castle and had, what felt like an authentic experience in a Scottish castle. It’s truly special to know that we enjoyed an evening by the fire that people did the same 600 years ago. Such a treat roaming around the castle and taking a walk by the river. We opted for the dinner hamper, which involved some preparation by us but the meal was really great. Brought our own wine and Prosecco. The items provided for breakfast were excellent. Croissants, fresh bread, berries and yogurt, amazing smoked salmon, juice, coffee and tea made for a great breakfast. Thank you for an amazing experience.
