Amazing host and stay

It was amazing the host Hazel and friend meet us in the car park, showed us to the rooms and around the property. Very friendly and welcoming , will be booking again.

The property is outstanding - within the gates of Greystoke Castle, surrounded by meticulously kept gardens, steps from the beautiful village of Greystoke yet quiet and peaceful. Hosts Hazel and Ian were warm and welcoming and both attentive and knowledgeable about the area and Cumbria in general, willing to share ideas on places to visit. Exceptional hosts! Their locally-sourced breakfasts were outstanding, the room was beautiful and fully stocked with anything you could possibly need. There is so much to see in the area and this is a good base from which to explore the Lake District. I would recommend Stafford House without reservation and hope to return again.

Incredible. Worth the trip up to Penrith just to stay with these wonderful people in the wonderful place. And probably the best breakfast I’ve ever had in England. Wish I could give six stars!

My sister & i stayed for 1night, the 28th July. The property is in a beautiful, tranquil setting & was immaculate. Hazel & Ian were wonderful hosts. The double en-suite room on the top floor with the four poster bed would make an ideal venue for a bride & groom. Will definitely stay again Sandra

I received a warm welcome from Hazel, who escorted me to a beautiful room. The four-poster bed was very comfortable, the mini fridge held fruit, water and milk. The tea/coffee station has a huge variety of drinks and tasty biscuits. Breakfast was very tasty!

A great find

Truly a gem of a place. Both Hazel and Ian were wonderful hosts, making us feel welcome and at home. Great communication throughout. Comfortable and well appointed room with great attention to detail. Historical setting in beautiful surroundings. Delicious and substantial breakfast. Would definitely recommend.

First class B & B

Fantastic 4 poster bedroom with large lounge area adjoining. Spotlessly clean with excellent facilities. Breakfast was faultless. Thank you Hazel and Ian, Stafford house is a credit to you and will have no hesitation recommending Stafford House to our friends and family.

This place is amazing. Super quality accommodation, a beautiful house and garden and the hosts are just so caring with fabulous attention to detail. I’m surprised it didn’t cost a lot more to stay but I think the hosts just want guests to enjoy their experience

Friendly and accessible hosts who made us feel very welcome. Lovely place, full of character and charm. Fantastic breakfast with loads of choice..remember to bring an empty stomach to the table!! A great place in Greystoke

Such an amazing property. On the grounds of Greystoke Castle. Built in the 1840's and restored to be historically accurate. Any renovations overseen by a local group. The hostess is friendly, accommodating and shared so much information about the property and painstaking restoration. My wife said "This is the best breakfast we have had." And my wife loves a good breakfast. A great place to end our visit to the Lake District.
