The canola fields brighten the landscape in April near Badefols d'Ans, Dordogne.
This chateau is tiny compared to the famous nearby Hautefort castle but it has its own charm. The castle was partially destroyed by the Germans during the Second World War because of its owner's involvement in the Resistance, but rebuilt following the war. It still belongs to the same ancient family but opens once a year for visitors.

Our room was spotless, well-equipped and supremely comfortable and quiet. Breakfast was very good. There is very little you would walk to from here, but if you have a car this is an excellent stop.

the bedroom was not great. very dirty and stained mattress with crumbs. walls in and around the bathroom were also stained. Receptionist was very nice and professional.

We were a little confused about the number of bedrooms, listing details said two bedrooms. There was only the one seperate bedroom with a double bed and a travel cot. The Sofa bed was in the lounge area. It was not a problem for us but could be if you really need two seperate bedrooms. It was lovely ...
