"I originally booked a room with a double queen for three people with an ocean view in April for an early October stay and paid in full at the time of booking. In July, I was informed that due to new construction at the property, the room was no longer an ocean view room. The option offered in response was an ocean view room (subject to availability) with only one queen bed, so this was not a viable option being offered by management as we originally booked two queen beds for three people. The other option was to remain in the double queen room, with an early check-out or late check-out as compensation. This was rather a pathetic attempt at compensating me for paying for an ocean view room, but giving me a non-ocean view room and I expressed this to the property manager. I asked that my room rate should be adjusted based on the difference between ocean and non-ocean view room, but the manager informed me the rates are different as of July so she couldn't do that (makes no sense). I eventually got a reduction in the room rate after much back and forth. I should not have had to argue for a reduction in the room rate. Also, given I was told in July about the issue, it was too late to try to book alternative ocean view rooms in the Rockport area as they were already booked up. Overall, management constantly left me feeling like I was being a burden with my inquiries and objections to the change in room reservation, and room rates. Great property, but poor on-site mgt."

"We love this house! The views were incredible! The history of the home was fascinating and we met another family member that lives in the area that shared more stories. He was very welcoming. Passed down over many generations is unheard of now days. The host was very quick with responses and very much wanted to ensure our level of comfort and accommodations. The home is obviously older and has a lot of character. Our entire family enjoyed the coziness and being able to spend time together. We washed clothes, we prepared a few small meals and we played games. We visited Salem a couple of days and experienced our first Nor’Eastern while there. The small town of Gloucester has a lot of history. We look forward to our next visit!"

"Our family has returned to this beautiful place several times. It is idyllic - and perfect for our large family. Steeped in history, this spacious place has it all - a beautiful 180 degree ocean view, open field, places to walk, not to mention tennis court and a private swimming beach. The host was exceptionally responsive to our questions, and, as always, the house was neat and clean. As a gardener, I really appreciated the gorgeous flower containers and garden areas. We will be back!"

"Overall a clean and very quiet rental close to everything you need. My only "complaints" would be the pillows are very flat and there was no hand soap in the bathroom. It is small, but has everything you need as you arent spending a lot of time there anyway. Nice walkable road down to the beach even if you do have to go through the cemetery. You need to like rustic, and not mind a slow ght damp smell."
