Top Porthtowan Hotel Reviews

Greenbank Hotel

Greenbank Hotel

8/10 Good
"A very pleasant, well managed hotel in an excellent location by the Penryn River with great rooms for breakfast and coffee and a pub. Only issue was that the room was very hot despite having an open window. Consequently sleeping was difficult. I was too slow in requesting a fan and irritated to be told there was one in the wardrobe or cupboard which there was not. I doubt whether a fan would be adequate. The hotel should seriously consider installing air conditioners in each room as summer temperatures are only going to get hotter."

"Some hotels give you a room. St Michaels Resort gives you a memory. My partner and I spent three wonderful nights here, and St Michaels became more than simply the place where we stayed...it became part of our Falmouth story. There is something special about the atmosphere: beautiful, peaceful and effortlessly welcoming. Everything came together to make our stay feel genuinely memorable, and we left with that rare feeling of wishing we could remain a little longer. I even bought a few pieces of St Michaels merchandise because I wanted to take a small part of the experience home with me. That probably says more than any ordinary five-star review could. Falmouth gave us the scenery, but St Michaels gave the trip its heart. Thank you for hosting a chapter of our lives that we will always remember. We arrived as guests, left as admirers, and will certainly return. Samuel"

The Falmouth Hotel

10/10 Excellent
"We loved the history and architecture of the hotel, it was like stepping back in time but with all the modern comforts. The hotel looks grand and imposing and has a story to tell. The hotel has lots of original features and has a charm about it. Yes parts are old as I read in some reviews but they gave it character. The rooms were comfortable, clean and had plenty of tea and coffee stock. We loved the gowns and slippers left (although we didn’t use them), it was a nice touch. The bathroom was beautifully presented with excellent water pressure. The hotels location is magnificent giving wonderful views across the sea. The lounges were lovely, the staff were very helpful. Breakfast was great with plenty of choice. I had the vegetarian cooked breakfast and thought it was truly delicious. I need to know where the vegetarian sausage is from as it was one of the best I’ve had. All in all, I definitely recommend this hotel and hope to return."

"Overall lovely hotel with beautiful decor and facilities. Everywhere was very clean. The overflow car park still undergoing building works and £27 a day for parking is very overpriced. No toilet roll in our room. Very slow service at breakfast and ran out of milk at and could only offer oat milk. Seemed to be more waiting staff just stood around rather than serving"

"Booked a standard double a couple of months before our stay. Couldn't book a parking space in advance as all taken. Only a small car park at the front. We used JustPark spaces on Asda carpark nearby & had no issues. Had a lovely room with alot of space for luggage to be left out. Room also included a wardrobe, 2 large mirrors (1 full length), plenty of drawers in desk, chair, tea/coffee/hot chocolate/milk sachets etc, kettle, lamp, TV, portable fan, opening window, extra pillows if needed, comfy bed, clean bedding & towels which are changed regularly, decent bathroom, toiletries, shower mat, towel rail, hooks, shower shelves. Some marks on the carpet & creaky floor in some spots. Our room was on the side & we could still see & hear the sea which was a plus. Some peeling paint & a loose drainpipe outside our window, but facing the sea & weather it's to be expected. No noise from the bar area or outside. We didn't include the breakfast in our booking & didn't eat at the restaurant but it was always busy. Good drinks selection & amazing outside terrace overlooking Great Western Beach with amazing views all around. Friendly staff & housekeeping team were very good and efficient. Can store your luggage in reception if you arrive early. Reception has info & pics about the history of the hotel, a phone charging station & plenty of leaflets regarding things to do in the area. Nice location only a short walk to main streets & convenience stores nearby. Would definitely stay again."
