The location and the cabin itself were great, and the stay was overall very comfortable. However, the main issue was cleanliness. The house was not properly cleaned upon arrival, which was disappointing. With better attention to cleaning, this place would be excellent.
Enjoyed our stay. We had several local places we wanted to visit and this was a great spot. Also enjoyed Black Rock Lake and State Park. Perfect for my husband and I plus daughters family. Had everything we needed to cook from steaks to full breakfast.
We absolutely loved this comfy, eclectic, little cabin! It is well stocked with everything you would need, very clean, comfy beds, great woodsy setting with a front porch swing, extremely close to Black Rock Mountain State Park, and Jon, the owner, is super responsive and helpful. We hope to go back again some day!
We found this property to be very homey and comfortable. As if we were welcome family in it.
It is a mountain house which is exactly our comfort zone!
Quiet nights and a very pretty neighborhood.
Nice walking trails near by.
Very relaxing with beautiful woodland views and close proximity to numerous hiking trails in Black Rock Mountain State Park. We saw several deer and a bear too! We brought our Airedale, and he loved it(as well as us)! Thank you for a fabulous family vacation!
House has about anything you need. Tv and internet worked fine. Looking forward to a future stay

Quiet cabin - nice features
loved our weekend getaway. Cabin was great. Clean. Nice amenities- wifi, tv, DirecTv, bluRay DVD player. Nice porch and swing. Did the Black Rock mt hike. Thanks for making this place available to rent!
The property is right next to Black Rock Mountain Park, about 6 minutes up the mountain, not a bad drive. Lots of activities close by in the little towns around the area. Jon the owner was very nice. House is nice for a small family. Lots of windows look out on a gorgeous mountain view.
Everything is there that you should need! We cooked a turkey dinner after hiking the trails at Black Rock Mountain. Very relaxing. Nice that there are books to read and maps of the area. Will be back again!
We loved it. Everything was great! The cabin, the location, all the activities and places you can go during the day, etc. I will go back.

Wonderful Fall Weather in the Mountains
My daughter and I enjoyed a wonderful weekend in the mountains! The cabin was clean and exactly as described. Out of ALL the cabins I've rented, the "Treetops" had the most well stocked kitchen I've ever seen. The secluded area made for a very restful stay. We enjoyed shopping in Clayton, Dillard, and Highlands. The food at Cupboard Cafe is amazing if you like homestyle cooking. Wonderful time!
We had a nice time, enjoyed our stay, but a few improvements could be made
Musty smell, and possibly smokers
Seriously needs better lighting!
Otherwise, location was ideal for hikers, and was very serene and peaceful.

"TREETOPS" weekend was "TOPS"!!!
Just returned from a lovely autumn weekend stay at "Treetops". As frequent VRBO renters, we were totally impressed with everything about the stay..........the location, the scenery, and especially the coziness of the house. We had everything and more than what we needed for our stay. The nights were chilly, so the abundance of firewood and the blower on the woodstove made our stay comfy and warm.
This house has EVERYTHING necessary for a home away from home experience. I knew that I had chosen a special place when I saw the doggie food and water bowls. As 'treetops' is only a very short drive from Clayton, we were able to do some antique shopping and also visited a local studio that houses 35 local artists.
We will definitely stay there again, as this is our favorite VRBO thus far.

Great location, well equipped, could use some updating.
Nice little cabin in a location very conveniently located to Black Rock State Park. Nice layout and well equipped with everything you need. Could use some updating though as it was very musty smelling. The bunk beds were nice, but the two beds in the bedrooms were not queens and were very old and in need of updating. Every time you moved the bed creaked and sounded like it was going to break. Front porch was very dirty and not really useable unless a lot of cleaning was done first. With new beds and getting rid of the mustiness it would be a very nice place though.

All the Comforts of Home plus views to die for and fun hikes
What a cozy delightful stay we had at TREETOPS. Homey, gramma's house decor, Comfortable beds. The wood burning stove was amazing. I was worried because the forecast told us the weekend was going to be COLD. I wrote the owner and he assured me that there was a back up heating system. We never used it! The stove was centrally located and had a blower system. The whole place was toasty and the wood fire smelled so great!
My friend and I both love hikes, and there were well marked, fun trails at different difficulty levels within walking distance and even more a short drive away.
Also, there is a WONDERFUL grocery store with everything from goat cheese to a great selection of fresh herbs to an olive bar just a few minutes away down the mountai----and at TREETOPS the kitchen was so well stocked and organized that I was able to indulge my love of cooking.
Pretty much a perfect weekend!
My favorite spot - The Porch Swing! Great view and made it feel like home, I have two on my porch. Jon is one of the most generous, attentive and gracious host we have dealt with. His attention and quick responses to your questions goes above and beyond. His property is wooded and feels secluded even though there are houses around it. The trails and proximity to Black Rock Mountain State Park make this a great place for hiking. The house was VERY clean (smelled fresh and clean), well-furnished and stocked. My first impression on opening the door was "Oh wow". The split-level layout makes it even more roomy feeling. The beds were comfortable and the wood burning stove is awesome. There were no negatives to this property in our opinion. A most welcome stay and much needed break. As for the driveway, it is concrete and wide, and does have a sharp turn at the top to park under the house, but I (a woman) navigated it easily the first time in my husband's Chevy 2500 (large, tall, and not a great turning radius), so anybody should be able to negotiate it. Everything was as pictured with the exception of an updated flat-top stove and the chairs at the kitchen island (they are now stools). The picture on VRBO of the outside of the house does not capture the real essence/look of the house (the railing has been updated and the house is lovelier than the picture). Thank you, Jon, for sharing your lovely place with us! We hope to return!
Overall this property is filthy, both inside and outside. We did have clean bathrooms, bedrooms and linens for our stay. The entire rest of the interior was/is covered top to bottom with layers of dust that has been on surfaces a long time. Cobwebs and more dust were visible on every interior window ledge. The areas directly above the food preparation counters were the most heavily covered in dust and cobwebs, so much that we did not prepare any food on these countertops. We used the nearby table for all food prep. The kitchen cabinets have active ant infestation and were in everything not sealed. The cabinet shelves did have paper liners but again were not clean looking as were the drawer liners, they were stained and messy looking in appearance. Every kitchen cabinet was in need of organizing. The refrigerator, stove and microwave all worked as they should. However, the interior of microwave is full of rust particles due to plastic protective coating fall apart. The microwave door was covered in grease and rust and had not been cleaned in very long time. Same with the inside of the electric stove, we could not use it due to the longtime cooked, spilled foods.
On exterior of cabin they have a very nice wood deck overlooking beautiful wooded property, but the deck is covered in combination of dirt and mold growth. All exterior windows and wood walls are covered with cobwebs. This cabin has a pleasant natural looking yard setting but it has not been maintained or cleaned up as it is littered with leftover wood chopping debris scattered over a large area. This cabin has such great potential due to its proximity to state park but in my opinion is unlivable in its condition. We have friends who live nearby in Clayton but we could not invite them over to visit us due to cabin conditions. We knew that a rental cabin would not be as clean as our own house but we did not expect the interior conditions to be so poorly maintained.

If the house had been clean and not had a strong musty, moldy odor in all rooms, it would have been a great place for our week. We swept up sand from the living room tile upon arrival. Cobwebs were in corners of ceiling and floors, often with dead bugs. Carpeted rooms were not vacuumed in corners or behind small pieces of furniture. Animal hair (cat?) was on nightstand table cloth. Living room door rug and sofa throw were especially smelly and damp. All cloth furnishings felt damp, many smelled musty. We notified owner, used Lysol, hung the rug on the covered porch, laundered the throw and nightstand cloth, turned on fans and AC to reduce dampness and odor. Owner wrote e-mail of apology and regret offering to have someone come to clean. We had already done extensive sanitizing and preferred not to have workers in while we were out. We didn't believe the cleaners could reduce the odor and mold more than we were doing. We asked that the cost of cleaning be refunded to us. We also ask that the pet fee be refunded because of problems with fleas. Everyday the dog, who had been extensively treated to prevent fleas before we came, was bitten. Dead fleas were found each morning where he slept. After the first day, he was carried to road side when taken out and walked only on the road side, not in the yard or woods. We were not bitten by fleas. We have used VRBO for 12 or more years, usually having the dog with us and have never had problems with fleas. The owner has not responded to our second e-mail. By the time we left the odor was reduced significantly in the living room and one bedroom. Under the kitchen cabinets and in the laundry/half bath, it was still extremely unpleasant. The house matched the description and pictures. We chose it because few properties were available at the late date we made reservations this year. The location provided privacy, quiet, good access, and very pleasant neighborhood. It was within a mile of trail access, close to many trails and waterfalls, with easy access to any shopping or restaurants we needed. We have hiked in the area before and returned because of the Bartram Trail and Black Rock State Park. We understand the unusually high rainfall this year contributed to the musty, moldy problems, but the level of unpleasantness was not healthy and was unacceptable. Because the property is older, the cleaning needed to be exceptional, not poor.
Wish we could have stayed longer. Maybe 5-10 minutes from Black Rock Mountain State Park, which was one of our main attractions. Close to good restaurants and tourist shopping. One of our favorite North Georgia Mountain trips by far. I got to hike James Edmonds Trail and then come home and get snuggly and comfortable! Well stocked, Ingles close by. Would stay here again.
Excellent experience! Owner was very quick with responding to questions. Cabin was very nice. Loved the location-out of the way, secluded.
The guitar was an unexpected surprise! I was able to play in the evening.
We will definitely be back!
