This was an authentic Icelandic experience, the grand finale for our week long trip. This guesthouse was the only place with Icelandic hosts, and they were very nice and welcoming. They provided complimentary pastries on our arrival. The room was better than the photos, and it had exactly what it was advertised. The house rules were very clear and concise. The house booklet contained witty information about tourist attractions and a lovely review of the family story. We walked a little around the farm and greeted the cute sheep. In the evening, we enjoyed the hot tub to ourselves. Before checking out the day after, we took our time to enjoy one last time the magnifecent view. Definitely, it was a nice change from standard hotels.

This property is so unique! It's on a farm with it's own waterfall. The kids enjoyed climbing up to it. There's a hot tub as well overlooking the sunset and water. Just beautiful. The rooms are big and the kitchenettes are stocked well. We used the oven in the lobby for our frozen pizzas. There are games to play and books to read. They even leave out dessert treats for guests. Really enjoyed our stay here.

Out of the 5 nights/places we stayed in Iceland, this stay was our favorite! Our late check-in was sooo easy! Parking was so close to our room. There was a delicious lemon cake in the common area which was a delightful welcoming. Our room was spacious and had everything we need including a walk-out deck with amazing views of the mountain cliff next to us and the ocean. Probably a great place to see the Northern Lights as well. And loved the feel of the place.

The location was incredible. In the backyard is a huge waterfall coming down a mountainside. The owner makes pastries that were out of this world for you to nibble on. Everything was perfect!

The Garage was an amazing experience! We stayed in the Dairy Room and the studio was perfect. The kitchenette had everything we needed to cook dinner. The bathroom had heated floors and a beautiful shower. The views outside the property are jaw dropping! Anna was so friendly and welcoming on the property and gave us a heads up when the parking lot was icy and slick. I cannot recommend staying here enough!!

A nice little gem
This property is a nice gem located in the middle of nowhere overlooking the ocean. It's very close to the Skogafoss waterfall. Overall the size of the cabins was really big enough from CIewalnd standards, with a seamless check-in and check-out. Bearing in mind that we were here at the end of December, the room and water heating was efficient. The property is worth the price tag it comes with.

This was by far my favorite stay while visiting Southern Iceland! The room was spacious and clean and the host was exceptional! I would recommend The Garage to anyone traveling the South Coast of Iceland!

We absolutely loved our stay and wish we had more than one night there! The owner made a cheesecake for the guests to share, we took a lovely walk around the property to a waterfall, and there was a hot tub. The bed was comfortable and spacious.

Property was great. Comfortable. I was disappointed that the property is just south of Myrdalsjökull, so unable to see the Northern Lights from there, but just 3 miles down the road it’s dark with unobstructed view. I also apologize to Einar for my outburst when we arrived. I am very embarrassed. Your facility is terrific.

I strongly recommend it, there is really quiet and can see the aurora in the sky on condition of the clean sky. And there are many cook materials served from the garage.

comfort like a home.
It was very comfortable and pleasure to stay. It was located below the mountain so it was very beautiful. The owner was very kind. She prepared cookies for guests and it was delicious. Room/shower unit was very clean and it was uniquely designed. There was no food stores around this hotel but this was a studio room so we could cook our own food. We only stayed a night because we were travelers but we wished to stay more days in this hotel.

Love it here! The property is amazing! Waterfall, horses, sheep and cute little cottage near waterfall you can sit and rest! The inside of our studio was clean, roomy, comfy and super cute! Anna went out of her way to make sure we had everything we needed. Anna made amazing homemade cake that we couldn’t wait to have a second piece. Her daughter was adorable and we loved her two dogs! If I come back this way, I would stay here hands down!

This was our favorite of the 5 accomodations we had in Iceland! The view, amenities, and hospitality went above and beyond what I expected! The cold plunge and hot tub were an unexpected treat, as were the delicious homemade Kleinar Anna had waiting for us when we arrived. So thoughtful; She was so welcoming and text with updates about our arrival. Even Heida, her delightful grand daughter was a joy to talk with and learn about Icelandic culture, and their pets! The room was comfortable with a nice kitchen and even some cooking supplies. Wish we had stayed a few days longer!!! Will forever recommend the Garage to south coast Icelandic Travelers!

Our favorite place we stayed at during our visit to Iceland. The host family was welcoming, treating us to homemade pastries and local history. The location is beautiful and easily accessible to nearby attractions. Food options are limited in this area, but the quality of our meals was excellent.

In our trip along the southern coast - we went as far as the Skaftafell National Park - we stayed here one night on our way back. I wish we had made this our place to stay for both directions - The Garage was a spacious room with unbelievable scenery - right on the water, with beautiful mountains behind including a wonderful mountain waterfall. Also laundry facilities are available to guest for small fee - hard to come by on south coast. It is about 20 mins east of Vik. If I were to do my trip over, I would book 2 nights here - on the first day take in the sites around Vik and then the next day go to Skaftafell and come back and stop at The Garage as your halfway point back to Reykjavik. You will not regret it. The Garage is a truly unique place.

I can’t recommend The Garage more. The surroundings are breathtaking and the ability to explore the property is wonderful. We loved hiking up to the waterfall. Anna offered us baked goods and lettuce from her garden. The ability to make meals was an added bonus. This is the perfect spot to stay during south coast exploring!

We had a nice taste of farm living for a night. Gorgeous surroundings with a waterfall behind the property and an ocean view in the front. The hosts were very gracious who had a freshly baked cake for us and offered fresh farm greens and lettuce to the guests. The cake was very delicious and I had never tasted a fresh produce like that in my life. I wish I had stayed for another night.

Best stay out of all places we stayed in Iceland. Superb location and room was in great condition. Owner had baked cookies for tasting on arrival. Nice gesture! To add, the two adorable dogs were very friendly and greeted us on arrival and also gave us company when we did a short hike to the falls behind the property.

Highlight of our Iceland trip!
This stay was the highlight of our Iceland vacation. The scenery around the property is breathtaking, and particularly special to those who love horses. The apartment was adorably decorated, very clean, and even the “small” studio was quite spacious. I will be recommending it to everyone who tells me they are going to Iceland!
