"Our group of 8 stayed for the weekend at Lisa's beautiful farmhouse. We were there to attend my niece's wedding that was held at Stover Hall which was less than a mile down the road. We really loved the house and enjoyed all the amenities and extra touches that Lisa so lovingly added. The house was spotless and there was plenty of space for all of us. The laundry room with the iron and board was really appreciated as there was lots of wrinkles to be ironed out! The fresh duck eggs were delicious...

It was perfect to gather around the table and enjoy a home cooked meal we had prepared together and then go outside and hang around the fire pit knowing we wouldn’t be disturbing anyone out in the country. "Our small start-up needed a place to think, break bread, and relax together. This was the perfect setting. We appreciated the layout with its separate-but-equal bedrooms and places to join together, like the lovely and spacious dining room and living area and amazing kitchen. But mostly it was nice to be outdoors with the livestock, including a turkey that seemed to get our jokes."

We loved the house -- it was charming and spotless, with the bonus of a generous welcome basket waiting for us at our arrival. It provided a restful, comfortable home base for our out-of-town parents and siblings to prepare for the weekend activities and relax between events at the vineyard (only a 15 minute drive away). "The four of us came to John's place with different needs: the kids wanted open space to fly a little plane they received at Christmas, my husband wanted to be close enough to a coffee shop and I wanted hilly open space and a house with charm. Incredibly we all found what we were looking for. It was the perfect spot for us. We also highly appreciated John's overall kindness and ways of communication."

We had some difficulty with the front door lock because the battery was low and the TV remote batteries were dead. The bed is very firm and not comfortable at all. The picture/description said there was a swing but the swing has been removed. It has 2 chairs in its place. There was no covering over it so we were unable to use it due to rain. "We had a great time staying at the Squirrel’s Nest. The location is secluded but still only 15 minutes away from Shenandoah. The cabin was warm & cozy and a perfect escape from everyday life. Hot tub was a plus!"
