"This place was so nice stayed for two nights kids begged for a 3rd. Saw turtles,beavers, muskrats. Both kids caught their first fish ever right off the dock. Definite core memories. Beds/bedding were comfy and clean. Beach around the corner. If you need there are public swimming pools near. We went to mt carrol public pool and it was perfect. Have already booked stay for next year!! Thank you!"

We especially enjoyed the outdoor amenities, with the fire pit and hot tub right on the river, in view of the lock -- and under the stars. "Maquoketa caves state park was on pur bucket list to stay and I wanted a cabin with firepit and bonus if it had a whirlpool tub to soothe our muscles after hiking. This checked all the boxes for us.
