We stay in the Clayton regularly and love it! Clean room and helpful staff

Had a wonderful stay at Tortworth Court. Room was upgraded to a junior suite due to 2 big events happening while we were there & new room was quieter. We enjoyed the events that were on while we were there. Enjoyed dinner in the restaurant Sunday evening.

Calm oasis from bustle of Bristol city centre. Welcoming front desk staff, attractive building and lobby area. Rooms are spacious and clean (Deluxe twin). All areas well maintained. Plenty of parking under hotel, definite plus for Bristol city centre hotel. 4* review (not 5*) due to only one lift working in one of the buildings, and multiple times had to wait several 'turns' as full with housekeeping staff and their laundry bins or equipment, guests were left waiting, not an issue if no bags bags and able to use stairs, but frustrating if that is the case. We were woken on one night by fire alarm and evacuation at 4.30am. It was for genuine reason, however the two staff on duty that we saw did seem to struggle with updating and organising guests to evacuation points. Front desk staff next morning had been briefed and gave an apology and explanation. Toilets on LG floor need more attention towards end of day as they were not the cleanest.

Amazing old building, wonderful period and eclectic decor. Breakfasts are the best ever - huge selection and all equally delicious (and generously sized!) Staff and especially Manager Kerry were super helpful and charming. Dinners and lunches were also very good. Service was spotty and a bit haphazard. Internet was not consistent and you had to log in at least three times a day! Room (‘character’) was OK - a bit dark and dingy given the small window and dark paint. On the small side. The bathroom was OK but a bit neglected and dusty. Everything - furniture, beams, skirting boards, beading, seemed to be painted with a dark paint that hadn’t been properly applied so it is sticky and peeling. Definitely that needs to be remedied as it makes everything look tired and tatty. More attention needs to be given to cleaning as there was dust on every ledge, skirting board, and cobwebs in corners and in windows! everywhere in the hotel.

Just a short stay, but made perfect by Jolanta, who sorted out a last minute problem with grace.
