The location of the hotel was good, close to notable areas such as Trevi Fountain, Colloseum, The Forum, Vatican City and others. The hotel's water boiler failed for 3 out of the 4 days we were there. The hotel staff was not forthcoming about the issues, because twice we were told that it was fixed only to recant their statement once I call them to complain. We asked for the manager several times and they wouldn't even give the name and just kept telling us "come by at 7 am to speak with the manager". We left early every morning to visit the city and the tours we scheduled so there was never a good time to speak with the manager. Besides, we are the ones inconvenienced so it should have been the staff making an effort to reach us and not the other way around. I definitely would not stay here again.

I spent 7 nights at Des Epoques and was initially excited by the prospect of staying at this 4 star hotel so close to the city centre. However, it seemed to me very early on that little maintenance or effort is invested into the hotel. Our bathroom tub leaked rivers each time we used it, flooding the bathroom and even leaking into our room. We reported this to the reception but it was not fixed and neither did the hotel offer to swap our room for another. As for the breakfast, it was a meagre fare of cold stale croissants(clearly store bought), watered-down orange juice, packaged biscuits, fruit, and other unfulfilling snacks which I gave up on forcing myself to eat on the third day. Sadly, it was a pre-paid breakfast. On two of the nights, during the early morning hours, construction work at the hotel jarred us awake and another disgruntled customer was faster than I in complaining about the noise which started later so we could sleep in without the rude awakening the next day. Overall, despite the convenient location of the hotel, I would not stay here ever again.

Upon arrival the staff were friendly and informative. The room was lovely and clean. Breakfast was included and nice but there's plenty of local cafes that are just as good. We would definitely go again.

Our parking lots in the front of hotel are only in charge of temporary loading and unloading services, we're really sorry about that.

Older Historic Hotel that needs work.
The hotel is in a historic building so I expected an older feel however it’s in need of repair. The WiFi is terrible and good luck with the heaters in the room. Ours was so worn down I had to call maintenance in to work it because I couldn’t tell when was what. The shower was held together with a price of metal, there were dirty and missing tiles in the bathroom and the toilet each day wasn’t being cleaned by the housekeeping staff. Upon booking I requested two beds, apparently I didn’t book a big enough room so they charged me an extra €400 for a room that was big enough but after we checked in there was only one bed. The solution was to split that bed into two making the already small room even smaller. Most of the staff was pleasant and a few were pretty great however the guy that checked us in and out of the hotel was a complete jerk.

They charged us money for tax property for each night we stayed and on each person. The WiFi was awful!!! And the shower was really good but too small for one person only. But the staff and receptionist were awesome ! The breakfast was really good and the breakfast guy works really hard

The rooms and hotel were tastefully decorated and clean. The location was good for us, close to restaurants and 20min walk to Roma Termini. On the flip side the A/C isn't set to blow cold until June but we were given a room with a window facing the street so got some fresh air. There were some minor maintenance issues that were fixed but not jntil day 2 of our stay. The breakfast options were a bit limited (admittedly we've been very spoilt on the holiday up to this point) & could've been hotter.

Nice and clean hotel next to a bus station friendly staff. No place where to park your car if you are planing to rent one you have to leave it on the street and it costs 8 euros daily. Most of the staff only speak Italian not English

A little off the beaten track
Lovely hotel a little further outside the actual city centre but easy to reach with a short stroll to the local bus. Staff very friendly and accommodating. Hotel overall was beautiful. I had room 116 which did not have a view at all. I wasn't particularly concerned as I only wanted somewhere clean and comfy to stay and that's what I got. That said this room seemed to have the pipe work for all the toilets in the building running outside the window so it felt as though I heard every toilet flush during the night with a strange cabbage like associated smell. Certainly wasn't bad enough for me to feel the need to complain and request a room change. Breakfast was varied, delicious and plentiful. All in all a lovely place to base myself and as it was a little further out of town it was nice and quiet.

Highlights: price and proximity. Nice, helpful staff. Good restaurants around. Not touristy. Very central to all sights. Pitfalls: WiFi was slow or nonexistent, which is very frustrating when trying to plan. Breakfast wasn’t great. No tea kettles in rooms which was advertised.

The hotel is very conveniently located. The staff is very friendly and helpful. There is an ENGLISH TV!!! Overall I was very happy, the only problem was the slow internet (almost none), so if you are depending on an internet connection you better think twice.

For the price this was a really good hotel. Not in the centre of Rome so you will need to use the local buses or taxi to get around. Buy the bus/metro map as soon as you can to help find your way around. Bus stops are right outside the door and will take you to Termini/station, Villa Borghese, Colloseum, and Vatican areas. Rooms were really comfortable and had good size powerful shower. All of the hotel was spotlessly clean and the breakfast choice was very good, including eggs, meat, cheese, loads of different breads/croissants, cereal and yoghurt, fresh fruit and more. Reception helped me print the evoucher tickets for the skip the line experiences which was really good of them.

They forgot our free bottle of wine. The heater didn't work in our room. There was 4 of us they only had 2 cups for tea in the room that they never replenished. The coffee at the breakfast buffet was terrible. Would never stay here again.

We did not provide immediately your bottle of wine because we could not know your arrival time on check-in day and we prefer you drink our wine well chilled. Tea and coffee facilities are not included in the room and, you did not pay any extra at all on check out day. We suggest, when in Italy, to drink a nice Espresso or Cappuccino, you will not be wrong. Blah could means many things, but not on the same track for our hotel.

Convenient to bus and subway spots -- several days parking was great for us (a spot in front was free and offered, thanks) but likely an issue for others. The twin hotels are somewhat confusing but the breakfast is fine and the location dining options are great.

close to Termini, and bus routes, hotel clean, good breakfast in am, close to several restaurants of different styles. Room was definitely on the smaller side but quite suitable for two of us. internet a little slower but still ok

The rooms and setting were fabulous. The bed was so comfy. The only thing missing was a bar. Loved it here and would recommend it to anyone. 30 minute walk to a lot of the main sights or the bus stops outside. Bars and restaurants around the corner

Truly disappointing
Location = Very Good ; Hotel Appearance = Very good ; Front Desk = tried to help out ; COMFORT LEVEL = extremely disappointing; this is NOT a 4 star hotel, NOT EVEN a 3 star hotel. The air conditioning was not working; they tried to fix the problem with a portable fan. The breakfast room staff was not pleasant and I speak Italian - The maid service would not replace soap or number of towels (2) that I had requested. The refrigerator was leaking. One could smell cigarette smoking in the room, that is, either they do not enforce the no-smoking rule or staff member/s smoked. Most scary of all is that they DO NOT have stairs/escape route in case of an emergency - you have to take the old elevator up and down the building. In my view, this is a major violation safety code. First time in my many visits to Italy that I felt truly disappointed.

Pretty hotel, very poorly maintained
We booked a superior double room, it was quite small and then we found ants in the bed and on the floor. We got upgraded to a triple room which still wasn't huge. We stayed there for 2 night and then had a leak in the bathroom ceiling that was dripping everywhere so we got upgraded again to a suite. It was a shame because the rest of the holiday was lovely. Breakfast wasn't great. The room wasn't cleaned very well either. A lot of the restaurants and things near the hotel had closed down.

Nice and clean hotel, good for a short stay
Stayed in this hotel for 6 nights. Our bed was big enough and comfortable, bathroom was clean, though rather small. The shower head was broken and leaking so we asked for it to be fixed however this wasn't done. Instead of letting this to ruin our stay we have decided to let it go and - as there were two shower heads - so we used the other one! :-) The room was spacious, clean and nicely decorated however wardrobe was non existent! We had to keep our clothes in our bags. Free bottle of wine was on the offer when we booked the room but we had to ask twice to get it. WiFi is free but very slow. Breakfast was basic but we knew what to expect, however it would do with more variety and also fresh cut fruit i.e watermelon, grape etc and more types of tea (I was missing earl grey). Metro is just 6-7 minutes walk, bus stop just outside the hotel. If you don't mind walking then main attractions are about 30 minutes away and some nice buildings to see around as well as other surprises along the way as you walk - we have discovered great basilicas that you would never hear of in any guide :-) and lovely little restaurants. Overall nice hotel and good location for us :-)

Room had a dirty floor, turned socks & bare feet black. Bathroom was a little run down, but other than that we had a very pleasant stay. Comfy beds & pillows.
