"I moved rooms after I noticed the first room wasn't properly cleaned and the bathtub had water that wasn't draining in it. Moved to a new room and it was great. The staff were very nice and easy to work with. The bed was comfy and the simple kitchen set up appreciated. "

"The woman who checked us in last night was so friendly, welcoming, and accommodating. We had to leave very early this morning to get my son, who was home from the military, to the airport to get back to his base. We were in a hurry, but the doors wouldn't open and nobody was around. We were kind of hollering "hello". Then a very nice man came out and aologized, and explained to us that there were some issues with people in the parking lot who had been drinking, so the doors were locked. Although we were in a hurry, the wait was quick, and we feel the gentleman did exactly what he should have in order to keep guests safe. We did not have garmet bags in either of our rooms, and we did need one for my son's civilian clothing, but we made it work. We let the gentleman know that, and he apologized and noted it in the system. This was our 2nd time staying there due to early flights, and we were just as pleased this time as the first. 5 stars for sure!"

"Consistently reasonable rates, especially in comparison to other hotels in Rapid City and the surrounding area; clean, comfortable, ample-sized rooms; and the employees are always friendly, respectful, professional and helpful, especially the housekeeping department and Adam (Matthew?). And I love the full breakfast! Sonesta Essential has become my go-to hotel for my regular trips to Rapid City. Thank you so much!"
