"The hotel is generally ok, I've just had 2 nights there and to be honest it was generally clean and tidy, the staff were excellent all round and the entertainment on the night time was reasonably, However the room, (and i had one with a balcony) was so small would would not want to spendca week in it, and the bed was awful. It was like sleeping on a rock. The hotel is what we would call tired and needs quite a bit of money spending on it to get it up to a first class hotel. Still i have a good...

"The location was great because it’s not too far from the beach but it’s much quieter than the places on Belgrave Road. The bed is comfortable and the breakfast was great with nice quality sausage and bacon. Hosts are very welcoming. "

"The place is just walking distance to the harbour, restaurants and shops. Breakfast are good. Comfy bed. The only worst thing is it smells so bad everytime we open the door going in, it’s only that part immediately open the door from outside. I don’t know where it is coming from bcoz it don’t smell in the toilet, not inside the room. Only upon opening the room, maybe from the vent. I didn’t bother to inform the staff in reception as smell fades away. I should have really. We stayed in room 208. Kindly inform the hotel so they can check please. "
"Arrived and greeted by the most incredibly kind staff. They really couldnt have given us any more to make us feel welcome. Want to give a huge thanks to Robin on reception. My husband has a neck injury and the staff even offered to get pain medications from the local Pharmacist for us.
The food in 1881 resturant within the grand hotel was delicious and served by Felix. What a kind gentleman he was also. Even making my young boy happy by giving him free mocktails!
Both inside and outsoor pools area great addition to our stay, the breakfast is tasty and always left each morning with full bellies. We will definitely be coming back. We were so sad to leave today. Thank you all for a wonderful stay "

10/10 Excellent
"We stayed in the Annex for three nights. Neil came to meet us shortly after we arrived to check that everything was OK. He offered us some sausages that he had just collected from the butcher, made from his own pigs which had jest been slaughtered. They were delicious. Our visit was to see Torquay, where my mother grew up, and visit places I remembered from childhood visits. The location is very private yet convenient to everything that we needed. If we ever come this way again, we would love to stay again."
"We had a very comfortable stay at the hotel and were impressed with the facilities and friendly staff. We returned for the 2nd time having also enjoyed our first stay. Love the views of Torbay and the internal architecture and furnishings of the hotel. It was a shame that the outdoor pool was closed but enjoyed the indoor pool / spa facilities."
"Stayed for one night on the way home with the family. Lovely place, very clean and welcoming. Hosts were friendly and helpful. Just a few minutes walk from the Downs.
Beds were very comfortable and the shower room was spotless. "
