"The tranquility of the place the peacefulness the wonderful staff nothing was too much from the time we arrived the staff were superb. The ammenities fabulous. "Travelled with my wife for the first time to Japan; for the price, we were impressed. Room felt a little crammed at times but was manageable. Staff was extremely friendly and ensured we were comfortable. Room had air conditioning and the bed/pillows were more comfortable than my own. Close to Kyoto Station which saved us time and energy which you would need to travel any places you planned to visit/hike. Would stay here again."

"My son and I stayed at Ben's Guesthouse for four nights in September 2026. Our room was clean and plenty spacious. The beds were comfortable and the bathroom was clean and totally functional, nice shower/bath. The air conditioning was comfortable and reliable. There is a strict no-shoes policy which is enforced by placing your footwear in designated slots before you enter beyond the office area. It's easy to adjust to this policy, and it translates into very clean floors throughout. Ben's is in a quiet and clean neighborhood, and particularly quiet at night, as all the stores on that particular street close early. There is still plenty going on at all hours within walking distance. We felt really lucky to have discovered Ben's Guesthouse. If I ever return to Kyoto, that's where I'll stay, beyond a doubt."

"This hotel was definitely a delightful experience. I have never stayed in a ryokan before and this will definitely set the bar high. Staff was very helpful. We used the private onsen and not the public one and it was great. The bed on the tatami floor was surprisingly comfortable. Our room came with excellent Japanese dinner and breakfast. That was very close to the bamboo Grove so we were able to visit early in the morning without the crowds. It is also very close to a lot of tourist attractions. My only regret is not staying longer."
