"My partner and I stayed at this beautiful family-owned hotel. We were impressed by the beautiful views from the balcony of our apartment and by the hotel itself. The apartment consisted of a large bedroom, living room / kitchen and bathroom with a balcony overlooking an inlet of the sea. As a family-owned hotel, it was lovely to meet them all and to be treated with such welcoming kindness. In the evenings, we were often somewhere on the island but if we were at the hotel, they shared their family evening meal, which was always delicious. We felt like we were at home. The rooms were cleaned daily except Sundays and were immaculate. "

"This was a fantastic stay and the listing couldn't be more accurate. We stayed for 8 nights and it was our first holiday with our 5 month old baby.Kathie and Chris are great hosts. They really made us feel at home and went through everything with us when we arrived which put us at ease for the week and made us fully familiar with how to live comfortably during our stay.The views are stunning. The sunrises in particular were breathtaking given the apartment sits on an eastern facing hill. Kathie and Chris have done an incredible job with the design of the space as well.The pool - this was the standout for us. We were keen to still stay somewhere that enabled us to explore the west side of the island but the private pool was a huge plus point as we were keen to get our 5 month old into it and have the privacy and peace to do so at our own pace (without lots of kids splashing around or similar at hotel pools). Don't be put off by the pool being salt water - this isn't remotely as explicit as it sounds. It's a process of chlorinating the water and isn't remotely what you would guess a salt water pool would be like - do not let the naive understanding of salt water pools put you off - its better than a regular pool.Overall an unforgettable stay, which is lovely as we will cherish our first ever family holiday being somewhere as amazing as this.Do not hesitate if you are considering booking this apartment!! "The view was fabulous and it was a quick walk to the beach. It was very clean and had everything we needed plus the supermarket across the road. The Taverna just to the east was excellent, we went there twice. Thank you so much for sharing this wonderful apartment with us!Sharon "

"Beautiful villa tucked in sweet local village. We enjoyed the villla, great views, spacious, clean, great character and a helpful friendly host. We shopped at local grocery and dined on the patio, enjoyed the pool and made use of the washer. Very safe place too! Highly recommend if you'd like to get out if the city and retreat for a bit."

"This is an excellent base, to explore Chania and the western part of Crete. It was so peaceful. The house is wonderful, with great spaces inside and out to congregate. But, it was also easy to have some privacy."

"Lovely villa, fantastic pool and garden area. Bit of a walk to Kalyves but downhill. Easy to get a taxi back up! Cleaner was great. Company very responsive via email. Would have liked some information about things in the villa and where to go to shop and eat, taxi services to use, things to do around the area etc. It would have been nice to have been left basics like bottled water, coffee, bread when we first arrived. "

"An excellent family holiday then location is extremely picturesque and surrounded by mountains. Everyday we saw the most wonderful sunset and sunrise. Sofia met us at the property, she cleaned and cooked delicious traditional food for us and completed check out, making these processes simple and personal. To enable a family to make the most of the island hiring a car is essential. We explored many beautiful beaches, ports and archaeological ruins as we were blessed with sunshine all week. I would recommend a visit for a lovely family holiday. "

"Great service from booking through to our 2 weeks - excellent to have the villa cleaned and new bedding and bath towels provided twice during our stay - pool cleaned and rubbish taken away regularly. We had an issue with the dishwasher on our first evening- by the next day we had been given a temporary one and a new one was installed a day later.The villa its self has the most amazing views through out the day - you can spend many hours relaxing around the pool. Lovely taverna within walking distance - beach with beach bar 15 min walk. Kalives has all you need to dine in or dine out. Once you have found the turning off the road to the villa your fine - first time can be a bit tricky but directions given are useful. We had an excellent 2 weeks and loved exploring a new area "
