Stone cottage with wonderful loggia, private pool, walk to facilities.
This property offers a taste of real Italy, set high in the stunning Garfagnana and situated in a lovely peaceful little village, it is within walking distance of a bar/basic shop, bakers, butchers and a pizzeria.
This detached stone cottage boasts 3 bedrooms, one of which has its own romantic terrace with stunning views of the valley and the mountains beyond. There are also 2 bathrooms, one of which has a tub.
Outside, there is a private pool, garden, barbeque and a wonderful loggia for al fresco dining and relaxing. Just relax under the traditional Tuscan arches, with the scent of the mature plants admiring the mountains beyond. This space is a real taste of Tuscany and a treat!
Property layout: There are 3 different entrances into the house. Enter into the lounge/diner via the covered loggia. Here there is a sofa, fireplace, TV and dining area. There are 3 steps into the kitchen which is equipped with an oven, 4 ring hob, dishwasher, fridge/freezer and microwave. Also on this floor is a laundry room, and a bathroom which consists of shower, toilet, basin and bidet. Up to 1st floor via an open staircase (with handrail) is the sleeping zone with : Bedroom 1 - Large double with doors leading to private terrace with stunning views of the valley. A romantic place to enjoy a glass of prosecco, or to breakfast with a vista! Bedroom 2 - Double bed Bedroom 3 - Bunk beds Bathroom 2 -Bathtub with hand held shower, bidet, toilet and basin.
Outside: Beautiful covered traditional arched loggia for al fresco dining and relaxing enjoying the views. Come in May and admire the abundant wisteria, or in June spend the evening with a glass of wine watching the fireflies dancing. Garden area with barbeque for your culinary treats. Pool area with private pool and sunbeds - just relax!
A little about the location: Please note that automated distance information can be misleading in rural areas. Although some places may appear close “as the crow flies,” walking routes are often impractical.
Approached via a little village road (you can park at house, or in the free village car park) close to a bar which also offers basic shopping including fresh cured meats etc, a bakers and a butchers. There is also a little pizzeria within walking distance. There are various good restaurants in the area providing fresh local home cooked traditional food within a very short drive, as well as local one-off shops, delicatessens, gelaterias and supermarkets. The location is less than 15 minutes north of the market town of Castelnuovo di Garfagnana with its famous Thursday morning market, numerous bars & restaurants. For relaxing afternoons out, there are lots of pretty villages to explore in the immediately locality, one of which is fully walled commanding outstanding views over the Apuane mountains. Many of these villages have festas in the summer with food, drink and dancing. Situated only a short drive from the National Park of Orrecchiella, the location is ideal for walking, hiking, horse-riding, mountain biking and picnicking, surrounded by views of the seemingly endless mountains, and local chestnut woodland. For those who enjoy the outdoor life there is also a local tree climbing/zip wiring park just 2 km from the house, with courses adapted for all age groups, from the very young to adults. Enjoy a picnic here too on hot days. There are local adventure parks where one can try water canyoning, rock climbing, swimming in rock pools, canoeing etc and there is the Grotta del Vento, a massive cave system in the mountains which is a good day out. There is an ancient fortress to visit also just a 5-minute drive or so and here you will enjoy stupendous views. There are interactive displays for children including a chance to try a little archery. The beautiful mediaeval town of Barga with its cobbled streets, great architecture, cathedral and great views is only a 25-minute drive. Barga is famous for its art and music, and here one can often enjoy free music, evening markets, dancing, and sometimes even impromptu entertainment from Paolo Nutini! Becoming well known for its restaurants too, Barga has plenty of places to eat. Lucca, the fully walled Mediaeval City and the Capital of the Region is an hour away, and one can spend the day cycling or meandering along its ample walls; people watching in both the grand and tiny piazzas with prosecco, coffee or ice cream; designer shopping; climbing towers, visiting some of its 99 churches or just taking in the atmosphere. If you like opera, there is a recital every evening before dinner in a unique church setting. The traditional Tuscan sites of Pisa and Florence are easily do-able in a day trip as are the beaches of Forte dei Marmi or Viareggio. Many guests also visit the Cinque Terre... The Golf Course of Garfagnana is under 10 minutes away too. Florence 1 hr 40 mins, and the closest airport of Pisa is 85 minutes away.

Very nice house with beautiful swimming pool in a small tuscan village. Quite charming and nicely built. Kitchen and living room area as well as shower at the pool requiring some renovation.
However, with very nice weather time spent mainly outside.
Very helpful support by rental agency when required.
Very traditional Tuscan property, lovely neighbourhood, next door neighbour nice, friendly and helpful coffee shop. Home restaurant lovely and a great experience, roads are a bit windy and narrow in places, car is essential to visit Places. Church bells take a bit of getting used to.
We spent a week in the house with 4 adults and 3 kids. Everything was clean when we arrived, key was placed as described. The house is in the middle of the ancient village and really cosy.
For unloading the car use the alternative entrance by the pool. Rooms are quite small and I would not recommend more than 6 persons overall.
Kitchen is small and not too well equipped, bathrooms are in good condition. Bakery, butcher and a bar are in walking distance, the rest only by car. People are very friendly and appreciated any Italian communication - even my pathetic attempts.
Apartment with great character, clean and well maintained. The view is what we were hoping for on our first trip to the region.
Beds are hard by American standards which is common to all the places we stayed in Italy - but we asked and received a bed pad very quickly.
We were pleasantly surprised to see the apartment located in the midst of a stone paved village with old world charm.
Note that that old world charm includes a nearby church with a bell tower which rings every half hour thru the night and linger at 7am.
We were okay with it
We walked across a nearby huge train bridge built a hundred years ago. Another day took an e bike tour that was awesome including visiting a 500 year old working grist mill
Would definitely come again

A dream vacation!
We've just returned from two weeks at this fantastic property, and my only hesitation is writing a viewing review is that we don't want it to become so popular that it wouldn't be available for us in the future! This beautiful old stone house in an especially charming medieval village has spectacular views of the mountains surrounding it. It was lovingly restored and is well-appointed and well-equipped. The pool was beautiful and most of our days ended with a refreshing dip. The August days were hot (most days it went up to between 28 and 33 degrees Celsius) but mornings and evenings were cool, great for sleeping! Screened windows were much appreciated,

We had a wonderful time in this lovely country house. It is a great base to explore the many historical towns nearby. To come back to the house and pool in the evening was fantastic. The views from the house and gardens are breathtaking.
The house itself is perfect for a family of 5 and the teenagers loved the good quality Wi-Fi!
Communication with Gian Luca was also very good and he was very easy to talk to.
I would highly recommend this property.
Great villa which adequately slept my family of five. Beautiful little hamlet which is driving distance from restaurants and shops.
Loved the first floor terrace out of master bedroom- great to wake up to amazing views.
Lots to do and see. Visits to Lucca and Pisa. Also family did some Water activities which was great fun.
Would recommend to any family.

Fam Jacobs Rudi

Excellent holiday
We (two adults and three teenagers) just returned from this lovely house after a ten day holiday. The view from the house is stunning, and it is in a really pretty village with lots of beautiful places to visit within easy reach. The pool was absolutely great: the children especially loved the way it was lit at night. We walked in the mountains, zip-wired, swam in the river as well as visiting Barga, Lucca, Pisa and the sea side. The house had everything we needed, and we would love to return.

Bella vacanza !

Mvh.Anette

Romantisches Haus in ruhiger Dorfidylle
