"What a gem in Matera! Easy to get to, not to many stairs. (It's Matera, so of course there are some) It took 7-8 minutrs from the parking garage. Short way to Piazza de Sedile with cafes and restaurants nearby. We had the spa room. It was lovely to jump into the small pool after a warm day. The room was spotless and clean. When you stepped outside and walked around the corner, you had a lovely view of Matera. We loved it. And if you are worried about the noise from the pool; you can turn it off...

"Cave B&B. Right at the heart of old Matera city. Driving there is not possible, so either have a small luggage or be ready to drag the luggage through medieval streets. There’s a Maison or Casa Cava that is close to drive by to load and unload the luggages, but still hard to drive to. Just a heads up. The host speaks little English. Breakfast has a great selection and very fresh."

"Breakfast was a buffet with a good selection of cold foods, coffee, tea etc. The room was very spacious with a fridge and TV. There was no safe available in the room. The bathroom had both a bath and excellent shower. One thing we didn't like was a window shutter out of reach on a string to open and close. However it didn't close properly so the sunlight came into the room very early. When you are not a great sleeper anyway this was disappointing. There is a bar in the hotel which closed early but a member of staff got some drinks for us when requested"
