Shropshire is a county located in the west midlands of England. It is often said that the birthplace of the industrial revolution was Shropshire, which is strange, because it’s something of a rural paradise. However for a true castle experience make Ludlow castle your destination. Situated in the heart of Ludlow, largely unspoilt you can spend hours scrambling around these ancient ruins. The view from the castle’s highest tower is well worth the climb, with a spectacular outlook over Ludlow to enjoy once you reach its summit.

The Royal Air Force Museum in Shifnal Shropshire, is a real hidden gem with four large hangars packed with displays and information to absorb. If the weather isn’t that great and you are looking to keep the family entertained then this particular museum is ideal.

The Severn Valley Railway is a wonderful way to spend a day or relaxing afternoon whilst on holiday. There is truly no better way to see the beauty of the River Severn than from one of these steam hauled trains.
