"The property was fine, being met with a pair of underpants on the outside banister didn’t bode well, but once inside it was fine. We are in our seventies so going downstairs in the morning with two cups of tea wasn’t ideal but we worked around it. The place was clean and very well equipped although we ate out every day. Salcombe is very niche and expensive although very beautiful and the natives were friendly enough. There are some lovely views a hilly walk away. There are National Trust gardens...

"Staff were really friendly, hotel was very cosy , clean and close to the town. It has lovely views of the estuary from the upper floors. The spa was very clean; the pool was a decent size as were the sauna and steam rooms. We had dinner in the restaurant. However, when ordering, there were some things on the menu that were no longer available. For a hotel of this size, this should not happen! The prices were rather inflated. There was a set menu that guests who had an inclusive rate could use, however, we did not have this option and so had to order from the a la carte offering. The inclusive continental breakfast was good, with a good choice of items."

"We had a fantastic stay. Very friendly helpful cheerful staff. Nothing was too much trouble. The food we had was beautifully cooked and presented and the canapés before dinner were delicious and a lovely touch with pre dinner drinks. Our suite was lovely clean and helped set the atmosphere of the hotel really well taking us back in time. The turn down service was a super touch and the fresh water drinking bottles were great to have replenished. The drivers were really helpful with our luggage on both journeys. It was good to have a parking place allocated to us in a gated car park altho a tight squeeze to park a larger car. We enjoyed the restful island with fantastic views. We walked around and climbed to the top plus used the swimming facilities. Overall a very special experience."

Perfect if you have a dog as there is a big field at the end of the drive which is part of the property and the walks from the house are great. We would love to come back and stay again. "Cote barn is a fantastic place to holiday, in a lovely village. Frogmore is small but beautiful with lots of fabulous beaches on hand. The house is set rurally at the top of a track but still walkable to the pub! It’s a very easy drive to the shops to stock up and to all the sights and beaches. Plenty of lovely places to eat close by, we would recommend the Bear and Blacksmith pub, absolutely amazing food and just 5 minutes drive. This is our second visit, this time with just one teen who loved the downstairs space to himself with his own bathrooms! Sally is an excellent host, always had excellent communication and fast response to queries. We had fabulous weather, so out at a beach most days, however the house is set up with tv, books, jigsaws etc… for rainier days. We love the south hams and love cote barn!"
