I've used the hotel several times for work in the past year and my company use this for staff staying in Southend. When you check in they ask for a swipe of a credit card. 6 weeks after my stay I was checking my credit card statement and noticed a £50 charge from Seven. I called them to query this I was told a coffee tray was missing after my stay and they charged me £50 and accused me of stealing it. How dare they, I never even touched the thing. I received no communication regarding the charge and now taking the matter further. Never stay at this hotel unless you want to be accused of being a thief.

Window blind was broken, toilet had poo stain in it,carpet had crumbs, toilet constantly running. Tv no APPS, BED was small for double bed. We paid £115 and no breakfast. Staff were very polite

A very relaxing atmosphere. Staff were exceptionally friendly and helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Service was first class. Arrived and started to park in public car park. Staff came to tell us were the hotel car park was located. We had drinks in the bar and asked about dinner. Order taken, and after a while went to find out when dinner would be served and was told we could arrive at anytime when it suited us. Total relaxation. Dinner was delicious, would certainly go back to for the hotel and restaurant. Rooms were well appointed and beds comfortable, slept well.

Unfortunately the room we had was in beside or below water pipes, cistern or water heater. Nice view shame about the noise. An average small town hotel, though their small rooms are nicely decorated.

Very Comfortable hotel
I have stayed in this hotel a few times now, I originally stayed in their basic rooms which are quite small, but OK if you are just there for one night. I booked a sea view room which was much larger and more comfortable room. I would advise anyone to book a sea view room.

Bitterly disappointed at dreadful service
The hotel was immaculate and the room was attractive and comfortable. The restaurant, Aurum, ruined our stay. We waited 30 minutes to even order drinks and had to chase up the order when it didn’t arrive. Drinks and starters arrived in dribs and drabs. I am vegan and one of the two vegan starter options was unavailable. I had mushroom risotto for my main which was underwhelming and I’ve made myself better risotto at home (I’m not a chef!). Similarly at breakfast time, we sat for 25 minutes before my husband placed our breakfast orders directly with the kitchen. Eventually a waiter took our drink orders. My husband’s drink arrived 15 minutes later and mine 25 minutes later (I’d only ordered a cup of tea!). Eventually our breakfasts arrived missing mushrooms (quite a main part of an English breakfast and listed on the menu). No one asked how our meal was so we didn’t get the opportunity to mention this until a waiter desperately tried to clear the table when my husband popped to the toilet. The waiter asked if we wanted the mushrooms but by that point we’d almost finished our breakfasts. The toast was I buttered and no butter provided and again, no opportunity to request this as there was only one waiter serving the restaurant and he was out of the room most of the time. The couple on the table next to us were discussing leaving to eat elsewhere as they were also left waiting as if they were invisible. Service charge is included in all bills.

Beautiful Hotel
What a little gem this was! Hotel was immaculate staff were very friendly and helpful, we had breakfast which also was very very good. Our room was also lovely overlooking the sea spotlessly clean we will definitely be returning.

Good stay, poor breakfast
Well placed for town, theatre and sefront, had a basic room but well equiped. Could have done with a cofffe machine though, TV was on an arm which when used covered the entrance door, wierd. Breakfast a big disapointment for us. Basic things on the menu were not available when ordered like cereal, granola, fruit which meant, as my wife does not eat cooked breakfast, was left with toast.

Fantastic looking hotel. Bar/ restaurant looks very modern and food was to a very high standard. However, I felt the room was far too small and I was having to clamber over my belongings to get around. Lighting was also poor and the TV in an awkward position to which you had to crane your neck. Service was good.

Amazing times.
My stay was short but very sweet. Everyone was so friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I was on my own this trip and was never short of someone to talk to from the ladies looking after my room to reception staff, bar staff and dining room staff. The food was superb and again nothing was too much trouble. I was waited on hand and foot and will definitely be returning soon. Thank you. Jayne

The first night our room was situated above the kitchen and was very noisy. They couldn’t move us as they were fully booked. The next morning we asked again and we were moved to another room. Very nice staff and the cleaning ladies were fabulous! Great location to shops and train. Make sure you go to the navy and military pub next door! Fab
