The Salty Pickle - Beach front access, Pickleball Court, Pool, Hot Tub!

The East End neighborhood has that 'Old Florida' vibe that Forgotten Coast visitors love, family friendly atmosphere and spectacular views of St. George Island's award winning beaches.

The Salty Pickle is on the edge of the Gulf Beaches area -- 1.8 miles to local shops, markets, restaurants, nightlife, St. George Lighthouse Museum and playground, fishing pier and just 2.5 miles to the State Park. The charming shops, restaurants, galleries and historic attractions of Apalachicola are just 20 minutes by car. Spend your days splashing in the waters of the private pool (heated for a fee) or soak up the sunshine on the unspoiled Gulf beaches. The pool deck extends to underneath the house to provide a shady area to gather by the pool and a nearby ping pong table and TV under the house provides entertainment between dips in the pool. Just outside the pool deck is a dedicated outdoor regulation cornhole court which is also great for bocce ball. And don't forget to bring your paddles to take advantage of the full sized private pickleball court! The enclosed outdoor shower (hot/cold), fish cleaning area and park-style grill are perfect for beachgoers and boaters after a day on the beach. Your dogs will love the large fenced dog run, which features easy access directly from the deck stairs, as well as a ground level gate. There's ample private parking with free Level 2 EV Charging and a covered entry.

Enclosed foyer stairs lead to this home's beautiful interior spaces. Exterior stairs serve both decks and the exterior elevator is available for guest use. Fabulous new porcelain plank floors greet you as you enter the first floor of this home. This floor also features a 2nd living area with seating for 8, 75" flat screen TV perfect for movies or gaming, coffee bar with mini fridge, it connects to the large screened deck area big enough to accommodate all 18 guests and featuring its own large flat screen TV.

Sleeping Accommodations are on the 1st floor and boast the Southwest, South and Southeast king master bedrooms with full private bathrooms, closets and flat screen TVs facing the Gulf of Mexico with direct lower deck access! The Northeast king master bedroom provides privacy and has a full private bathroom and flat screen TV. The Northwest bunk bedroom has plenty of space for the little ones with 8 individual beds (1 California King, 1 Queen, 6 Twin XL).

Upstairs, the open and spacious living/dining/kitchen area offers amazing views of the Gulf from the wall of windows and sliding glass doors, which lead out to the large Gulf facing deck. Enjoy relaxing in the hot tub looking at the Gulf Coast SGI beaches. This comfortable seating area is perfect for enjoying chill time and soothing sea breezes. The upper deck's large dining area provides options for al fresco dining. The dining area has 2 large dining tables with seating for 16 and seating for 4 at the large kitchen island, so there is lots of room at mealtime to gather. The large kitchen island is perfect for gathering family and friends together and the beautiful new kitchen with high end appliances has been stocked with everything needed to create delicious coastal feasts. There is also a half bathroom on the second floor. All the TVs in the home are new Smart TVs and the common areas feature easily accessible HDMI hookups for your gaming systems or other streaming device.

The Salty Pickle was the BEST! We loved playing pickle ball every day…the pool was terrific and lots of room for us to spread out. Very clean and our dogs loved it. The elevator was wonderful especially for our older lab. Thank you for sharing this place. We will be back!! Check out our shirts we made for The Salty Pickle on our cricket. So much fun!!

Loved the salty pickle. Everything was great except for the boardwalk to the beach. No one told us there were steps up and down numerous times. Other than the walk to the beach, the house is fabulous.!

Our Amazing Family Vacation

We loved this cottage "The Salty Pickle more than any place we've ever stayed on St. George Island. The cottage is beautiful, large with space for everyone and all the family felt spoiled. Great kitchen, a pool, ping pong table that we used daily, and a full size pickle ball court. Some of us lost weight while there because we played more than our usual amount of pickle ball. And of course it's a fun walk down the board path to the beach. I totally recommend this cottage for active families and for lots of entertainment. Plenty of Tv's, so everyone can watch something different. Best ever cottage!!!!

Fabulous Getaway

We loved our stay at the Salty Pickle! The pickleball court is why we booked (which was AWESOME!) but we enjoyed the many other amenities as well. The management company does a great job of making you feel welcomed and taken care of and even provided a bag of essentials for the week which we really appreciated. We’ve stayed in many places on the island and this was one of our favorites. 10/10!

We will definitely consider this house again for next year.

They communicated well for the couple of questions we had. The only thing to note is there are tons of steps on the walkway out to the beach, we used the public access walkway just to the west of the house to get our wagon of beach gear to the beach. But everything else was so amazing it really was not a big deal. The house is beautiful and we would love to go back!

2024 Hurtgen Family Vacation (18 of us)

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The immediate family of my wife and mine spent the second full week at the Salty Pickle. This compound is simply amazing, and we used every amenity. The extra money needed to heat the pool was well worth it. The kitchen is well-equipped, as about 16 each evening can attest (my wife and I ate out all nites except one). The "bunk house" was awesome in bedding seven adults and children. The folks at Gulf Coast Beach Vacation Rentals are very responsive in meeting any challenge. This is our third year in renting properties from this group and, hopefully, not our last. The only drawback was for our us grandparents in making the somewhat of a long walk out to the beach (with plenty of steps). Overall, the property is A+++ and the folks at GCVP earned an A+, as well. Here's to 2025, Lord willing!

Wonderful Experience

Reviewer Comments: We have rented beach property every year during the last week of the year since 2012 and have had some wonderful experiences, but our week at the Salty Pickle has exceeded them all. I cannot say enough good things about everyone involved from the agents to the owners. Everyone was so kind and went out of their way to be helpful. This house is phenomenal. Everything we could have needed was provided. Two refrigerators, two dishwashers, and two ovens along with a spacious pantry made food prep and clean up for our large family so easy!! The porches were beautiful! Two fining room tables held our whole family comfortably. Beach chairs and beach toys were available, and the heated pool was perfect for the grands! We loved the hot tub, the pickleball court, and the cornhole game as well as the ping pong table. There was something to keep everyone happy and busy. On top of that the house was immaculately clean and complete with little gift bags.I cannot say enough about this vacation. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Awesome Beach house!

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: We have been coming to SGI for 10 years and this was our first trip with 10 of us staying together. The Salty Pickle did not disappoint! This home has EVERYTHING you could possibly need and then some! From 3 years old to 70 years old, we all loved it and had the best family vacation without being on top of each other. The boardwalk to the beach is a bit longer than I am used to, but it was very nice to walk over the dunes. The view was breathtaking from the top deck, the enclosed porch was so relaxing and the pool area was great for hanging out while playing all the games - ping pong, connect four, cornhole, pickleball. . . The pool and hottub were even cleaned during the week! Toys and Beach gear were a huge bonus for us also. The fenced in dog area is so convenient with easy access from all floors. We used the elevator to bring in all our suitcases and groceries, which saved alot of backache. We had a leak under the sink and someone was there within 20 minutes to fix it! I would highly recommend The Salty Pickle!!! 5 stars

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: There’s not enough room to describe how wonderful our trip was. It was a two week stay, and still was so hard to leave. The Salty Pickle is about halfway between the island entrance and the state park, but we were so busy with the hot tub, pool, ping pong, pickle ball - yes, the only pickle ball court on the island, and it was all ours! The elevator was perfect for those who couldn’t handle the steps, and of course the kitchen was amazing with anything you would need (but the food)- two refrigerators, two stoves, and two dishwashers, and an ice maker on the first floor. We rode bikes and even though we weren’t directly on the beach, we had the perfect view from the kitchen and the hot tub, to watch the sunset! Our only issue was that the pool was loosing water and had to be filled several times. We were extremely impressed with the generous ‘welcome bag’ from the management. Thanks for that and for being very helpful and polite with our calls and requests both before and after our arrival. GCVP is the one to call for The Salty Pickle on your next trip to SGI. Can’t wait to see you again next year!

A Wonderful House

Overall, I recommend this vacation rental. Reviewer Comments: The Salty Pickle is absolutely wonderful!!! You can tell the owners care about the property and its upkeep. It has a great layout with main living/kitchen on the top floor, with all bedrooms and another living area on the middle floor. It is worth mentioning that with the kitchen and main living on the top floor, there are a lot of stairs to climb. It didn't bother our family, but is something to note. We really enjoyed the pickle ball court, as well as all the other amenities provided. The owner, and rental company, provide pretty much everything you can think of, besides food! Gulf Coast was great to work with and quick to address one issue we ran into. The house was very clean and beautifully decorated. The outdoor living spaces are fantastic, with two of the levels having shaded lounge areas, which were a wonderful reprieve from the sun. We didn't bring any dogs with us, but appreciated that there weren't any lingering animal smells on any of the furniture. There is a gated dog run next to the house that would be quite useful if you plan on bringing your pup! The only critiques are that the bedrooms/bathrooms are on the small side (it didn't bother us much bc we basically just used them to sleep and shower, but of note if you're someone who hangs out in your room or plan to utilize a pack n play/bassinet for small children) and the walkway to the beach area is quite long and narrow (again, quite a few steps and difficult to carry larger items like a kayak to the beach). With that said, we all agreed we would NOT hesitate to rent the Salty Pickle again for our next visit to SGI!
