Birthday Celebration

We visited Casa Mare for my husband’s birthday with a group of friends (four couples). We had so much fun!!!! The house is well appointed and offers everything we wanted. The layout is perfect for a group of adults since all the rooms are very similar and each has quite a bit of privacy. The pool is beautiful and the kitchen is amazing. We enjoyed many day trips-boating, beaches, hiking and shopping. Perfect get away! Thank you!

Lovely Architecturally Interesting House

House is nicely situated close to Cruz Bay. Plenty of space for an extended family of 10. Well equipped kitchen and amenities. The view is very pleasant, not “full onto the ocean”but a side view of the Bay as well as the lovely hills of St John. As a bird watcher I liked the large marsh pond visible. The host David was very responsive. We did have some problems with algae in the pool but after a couple of false starts he did manage to clear it up and the family enjoyed the pool. It’s not large and quite deep with little wading, but more than enough with the amazing access to beaches. We also had some freezer problems which were difficult to resolve, but again David was responsive and helpful. It doesn’t have a hot tub, something I like in a vacation rental, but still it’s a house I gave a high rating because of its good value and responsive host. Very pleasant home base on a wonderful island! Would rent it again.

Casa Mare: Our Unforgettable Caribbean Family Retreat!

This property is even better in person. The villa is absolutely gorgeous and is immaculately clean; we loved the sleek modern architecture. It is open, bright and allows you to take in the beautiful views of Hart bay and St Thomas. The location is perfect as it is close to Cruz Bay’s restaurants, shopping and Dolphin Grommet market is nearby. Parking is on a flat driveway for 2 vehicles. The amazing north beaches and Coral Bay are easily accessible with a short, pretty drive. The chef's kitchen is the well appointed and it made everything easy. Every bedroom had privacy; furnishings are top notch with beautiful bathrooms. The master suite is spectacular. The pool is very unique and was a big hit for swimming and barbequing. We would wind down the day on the rooftop seating with a glass of wine while stargazing with the lights of St Thomas in the background and the gentle waves below. We spotted deer and birds in a small lake below. The air conditioning is always cool and there is a large generator outside. Prestige properties made booking easy and Natalie, the new property manager, took care of the pre-arrival shopping for us. She is wonderful, she meet us at the barge and led us to the villa and then assisted us throughout or stay. She is a great concierge and we enjoyed many day trips at the beach, hiking, shopping or boating to the BVI. It was the perfect place for our family of 10. We loved everything about this house, and we cannot wait to come back next year!

A really nice place to stay

Casa Mare is a very nice villa that is in a good location, has easy parking, good views, and all of the amenities you would need. The greeter meeting us when we got off the barge was wonderful, she led us to the villa and showed us around. This is one of the nicest villas in the area and the layout is really unique. There are so many different places to go if you want to have some time away from everyone else, but also plenty of space for everyone to congregate in the same area. The dining room and great room are large, there is also a rooftop balcony that is really nice in the evenings, and of course the pool patio is where most people will end up. The pool itself is larger than most, and is pretty deep - 7' or 8' I'm guessing. The only place that young kids can stand up in the water is on the steps, so make sure you bring a life jacket or floaties if applicable. We visited in early March and the pool was a little chilly for us, but warmed up later in the day. On the flip side, the house never would cool down enough for us. There are 4 or 5 AC units in the house, they all work, but the master suite was always set to 74 (locked) and was typically 76-78. Other parts of the house were 80+ during the day. The upstairs room is the only one that would get cool enough so we all congregated in there when needed. Again, this is early March, so I don't know what it would be like in the summer. We struggled with that. Everything else was awesome! We had a great stay.

Great property

My husband, myself and our two teenagers stayed at Casa Mare and loved it. The house and kitchen were the most well appointed we've stayed in and it made everything easy. The location was perfect. Close to Cruz Bay but out enough to feel private and we loved the views. Thank you for everything.

Perfect vacation home!

We loved everything about this house from the massive windows with a view from every room to the well stocked chef's kitchen. Every bedroom had privacy, beautiful bathroom (all with outdoor showers) and a view. The master suite is spectacular. We celebrated our daughter's birthday here with our family a couple of her friends and it was absolutely perfect.

INCREDIBLE HOME / GREAT LOCATION

The house was beautiful. so much space in each bedroom / bathroom suite and lots of gathering places throughout. Great location - easy parking and quick drive to Cruz Bay for restaurants / shopping and Northshore beaches. The kitchen has everything you need for food and drink prep. Would highly recommend this property

Family Vacation 2019

It was amazing. Owners were gracious and very helpful. Snorkel gear was included and we used it all week at several beaches. The accommodations were top notch....fit our whole family of 8 and offered incredible views. Beautiful pool and rooftop deck to boot! Would highly recommend. It offered us an incredible family vacation!!Beautiful!

Awesome house

The house is awesome. Very well-equipped. Had everything we needed for the week. I would definitely recommend getting a chef to prepare meals as they may have better access to meats and fish. Or buy them on St Thomas before coming over. Overall awesome stay and host was great.

Beautiful house—very poor management!

Natalie and management were unresponsive and ineffective making our entire stay disappointing.We arrived with provisions pre-delivered, but all frozen goods and ice melted by morning as the freezer was not turned on.We called about electric outlets and the dishwasher not working and we were told to check breakers—they had tripped. Same breakers tripped each time the dishwasher ran.Our party of eight people had to share the master shower for four days as the water heater for 4 of 5 bathrooms needed repair/replacement. Repair took the repairman 3 trips/days to fix as the water closet was locked without access. By then, the master water heater thermostat was turned by the repairman so high rendering the master shower useless for two days until he returned again to correct.We were told not to adjust the outdoor lighting as they are on timers. The exterior entry steps (more than 30 from parking) remained mostly unlit for the duration of our 6 night visit—very dangerous without a flashlight.Last, if you stay here and it rains, expect to wake up with rain water on the floors throughout the house and have wet feet leaving your bed, bathrooms, or living room.We have rented many VRBOs over the years and generally rate high, but not this one and we should get a credit.

Fantastic Vacation

I would stay again. David the caretaker was responsive and helpful during our stay. The home has everything that you need for your vacation. We took advantage of the pre-arrival shopping. This was fantastic… first time that I have done this and now I’m hooked.

An amazing week at Estate Chocolate Hole and Great Cruz Bay

This house is amazing, excellent location with spectacular views of the island and St. Thomas in the distance. Accessing and parking are one of the best features of this property, a flat parking spot up a not-so-bad hill, nothing too crazy. With two teenagers the house was perfect for giving everyone space when needed, with shared common areas for gathering. The pool is fantastic and if you are floating just right you can get good views of the ocean in the background. The roof deck turned out to be an excellent hangout spot during the evening too. The house was clean and ready to go when we arrived with everything we needed, to have a relaxing week in St. John. My family loved everything about this house, and we cannot wait to come back next year.

Best to rent a car

It was clean. Some furniture was worn. I.e. Master bed and nightstands. Slate floors under steps of dining room and master bedroom need cleaning a little better. Everything else was as expected.

Incredible property

This is our second stay at Casa Mare and we hope to return again. The owners are great and responsive. The place is beautiful, clean and organized in a way that allows guests to be together but also has many opportunities for privacy when needed. We loved the pool and the decor. It was the perfect place for our group of 8.

Perfect St John Villa

We had four couples spending 7 days on St John. Casa Mare was the perfect fit. Each couple has their own suite, complete with indoor and outdoor showers. The whole house is well appointed, especially the kitchen. We had full days exploring the island and coming home to Casa Mare each night was the perfect setting to unwind and relax, pool was a big hit! Check in was easy, Dave met us at the property and told us everything we needed to know about the property and answered any questions we had. I highly recommend Casa Mare. Thanks Dave!

Perfect Vacation

This house was perfect for our family vacation. Great location, short drive to Cruz Bay, grocery store. Quiet neighborhood. You can see and hear the ocean from the large deck. My children loved the pool. Beds are very comfortable, my entire family said they slept so well. Would definitely recommend this house to anyone who’s traveling to St. John.

Wonderful St. John experience

This property is even better in person. It’s equipped with everything one could want - and even some nice welcome gifts. Justin (property manager) met us to introduce the property personally and was responsive throughout the week to questions. It’s a short hike down to a secluded beach and quick drive to Cruz Bay everything. The rooftop deck is divine at night with the sound of the surf below and stars stretched above. The pool was an absolute delight! The layout of this house allows for private spaces as well as great gathering areas! We would definitely rent this again. Many thanks! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Family vacation

We’ve been coming to St. John for 30 years and this year decided to bring our children and grandchildren. Casa Mare was a perfect home with plenty of space for spreading out when you need separation and plenty of spaces for spending time together. The set up of the bedrooms was fantastic giving everyone some privacy and all bathrooms had outdoor showers. The sleek modern architecture and design of the house was a new experience for us(we live in a 1700’s antique at home) and we totally enjoyed the vibe! Pool area was great, lots of lounges for relaxing. Grand kids had a blast in the pool(my apologies to your neighbors for the noise) All in all a wonderful stay. One note is that there are a lot of stairs down to the house, beautifully landscaped btw, so if you have difficulty walking that could be an issue. I have really bad knees and made it without too much trouble. Thank you for letting us stay in your home!
