"Nice size room, easy 10 minute walk from Canterbury West train . Lots of nearby restaurants and shops. Shower ok, bed a wee bit tired. Big bonus having a buffet breakfast included - thank you! It was a bit noisy on weekend due to nearby clubs "

"Generally the standard of hygiene could be improved dramatically , just very dusty and dirty in certain areas. They just need to hoover the carpet more. We had a blocked sink and the water wasn’t very warm despite setting to maximum. I understand other guests had similar issues. Positives were - very friendly staff, comfy bed and oreo snacks were nice"

"Stayed here for one night (24/4/26). It was good value for money as far as I’m concerned. The Greyfriars Lodge is very old but it’s clean. We were very happy with the location. 10 min walk from Canterbury East Station. 4 min walk to Marlowe Theatre the main reason we came to Canterbury. 4 min walk to Butter Market and the Cathedral. The room we had was spacious and the staff very welcoming (Sanjeewa). If you’re looking for modern place to stay then this Lodge isn’t for you. We like to support small businesses."

"When we arrived to check in the room was not ready. Turns out they were not even aware of our booking until we showed it to them. We then had to wait two hours whilst the owner came to the property to get the room ready. Waiting outside in the side proved to be a disaster as their outdoor table and chair was covered in a black bitumen type substance that got all over the bottom of my trousers and completely ruined them. When we did get into the room the large curved screen TV proved to be utterly useless at it did not receive any signal and as there was no wifi either it was nothing more than a black wall decoration. The kettle did not work, even going so far as to turn itself on and off at random and the microwave was so complicated I was unable to boil water to make a cup of tea. Not that they provided any tea bags so it was just I well I had brought my own. The room itself was recently decorated and in good order and could have been very pleasant had anything worked as it should. The room overlooks a main road and as there are no net curtains any and all passers by have a clear and uninterrupted view into the room so if you want any privacy at all you have to shut the curtains. The noise, OMG, it went on pretty much all night due to the traffic on the main road. No chance of sleeping at all. My written complaint was completely ignored and I received no reply to it whatsoever. Unfortunately I would have to recommend that you avoid this place at all costs."

"Good room, good bar and wide choice and excellently cooked breakfast and dinner. Plenty of parking and outside tables for when the weather permits. Good view, and excellent location for visiting Canterbury and the Kent countryside. Also very convenient for golfers wishing to play at Canterbury Golf Course, lovely course, just up the road from The Evenhill. "
