Lower Farm Cottage - sleeps 4 guests in 2 bedrooms
Charming Lower Farm Cottage is ideally situated, in the picturesque hamlet of Stalbridge Weston, in the Blackmore Vale area of Dorset, much beloved by Thomas Hardy. This special cobbed cottage makes the perfect base for countryside walks, cycling, and exploring the numerous towns and villages all around.
Brimming with character features including original beams and a beautiful wood burning stove, the cottage is generous in its proportions with plenty of space for a family or couples break, and offers a choice of dining areas. The ground floor has a cosy dual-aspect sitting room which is perfect for watching television or reading a good book.. Next to the sitting room you will find a welcoming breakfast room, with a traditional banquette seating area, a dining table and four chairs. Following on from the breakfast room, and down two steps, you will find the large family room with its own dining area, an ideal space in which to watch television, tackle that jigsaw puzzle, or play a board game together.
The well-equipped kitchen has a electric oven, with an induction hob, and combi-microwave providing the perfect place for cooking up a wholesome meal. A small separate utility area houses the washer/dryer, and there is also a cloakroom to complete the ground floor layout.
Upstairs, the original cottage features continue throughout your homely retreat, where you will find a super-king size bed in the principal dual-aspect bedroom, with a built-in wardrobe, bedside tables and chest of drawers. The second bedroom has twin full-size single beds with bedside tables and a small chest of drawers for storage. The family bathroom has a bath, separate walk-in shower, a wash basin, WC and heated towel rail.
At the rear of the property, you will find a large garden, mostly laid to lawn, the perfect space for relaxing in one of the sun loungers. The garden table, chairs and parasol are ideal for alfresco dining, or enjoying a morning coffee listening to the bird song. You will also find a table tennis, in the barn, adding an additional on site activity. With ample on site parking, stunning countryside all around, and numerous quaint villages and market towns within easy reach, the cottage is ideally situated and a great choice for your Dorset holiday.
Additional information: Children and infants welcome (please provide your own travel cot, high chair and cot linen). Two well-behaved dogs welcome (small additional charge per dog) A charcoal barbecue is provided. Please note that due to the age of the cottage, the carpeted stairs are wide but irregular in depth, please use the handrail. Please be cautious of the uneven paving stones outside. There is parking for up to two cars in front of the cottage which is at the end of a small no through road.
