A group of 9 friends stayed at this great house for 4 nights over New Year. Fantastic location with amazing views. The communication with the owner was excellent. More than adequate facilities for our needs with lots of information about the house etc. We all had a great time and would highly recommend.
Beautiful location. Very well equipped house. Comfortable beds, nice linen and towels. Enough fridge space.
Only thing was for 2 bathrooms and 9 people the hot water system was not quite sufficient. A couple of electric showers would have helped a lot.
We had a lovely stay at Compass Cottage and we were blessed with lovely weather too. Good accomodation for 5 friends, nice and sociable and plenty of seating/space in the lounge. Everything you need and a lovely sea view. One minor point - a little bit of overkill on all the notices left round the house - would be better kept all in one folder. There were so many it put me off reading them!
the house was perfect our a work team of 7. The flexibility of the bedrooms was amazing as we could have some of the beds split into twin beds.
Fantastic living room with lots of space.
Thoughtful Welcome Pack was also available there when we arrived.
Everything we could possibly need was in the kitchen and simple instructions for things that we needed to know.
Beautiful walks literally across the road.
We would not hesitate to stay again.
The perfect place in the perfect location for a family get away.
Compass cottage is a lovely house and my family and I really enjoyed our stay. The view from the house was amazing, and we went on so many walks with even more amazing views. It was the relaxing get together time we were all looking for.
Great property for a family holiday, in a lovely area.
Compass Cottage is a spacious and well-equipped property, very well suited to larger, cross-generational family groups. The large lounge and other downstairs spaces are good for socialising or just chilling out.
We had a lovely few days staying at Compass Cottage and exploring the amazing local areas. The house was clean and bright and spacious, and had everything we needed. The manager went out of her way to make sure we had the best time, even when our plans changed a little, and there were nice little touches, like fresh bread and biscuits for us when we checked in. Overall a great place to stay - and the location is amazing.
We stayed for a week with our extended family of 8 adults and 2 children to celebrate husbands 60th.
Despite the stormy weather we had a fantastic time. The house is a delight, so spacious yet warm and cosy. The house is very well equipped and we also appreciated the lovely welcome gifts.
Highly recommend and hope to come back again.
A fantastic location and ideal house for a family gathering. The house was comfortable and clean with plenty of living/dining space and very well equipped with everything we needed plus thoughtful touches. It was great for a young child with plenty of space to run around plus a clean, sturdy, comfortable cot provided - I mention this particularly because in my experience cots provided in hotels/holiday cottages are often awful! Highly recommended, I would happily return.

Fantastic stay, homely with amazing views and loads of accessible beaches
We were warmly welcomed and treated to the basic necessities after travelling to the holiday home. The house was clean and homely and our children enjoyed the dolls house and train set available to play with. Everyday we were treated to amazing views of the sea and walks just outside the door and many beautiful places and beaches in the surrounding area. Would love to return when time allows. Owners were available if help was needed very friendly. The pictures do not do the house justice, on paper we thought it was good but in reality it was better than we anticipated.
We had a group of 8 staying and up to 11 for dinner. The house was perfect and unbelievably well stocked.
The owner was fantastic - making sure we arrived safely, the welcome gifts, Xmas trees all up.
While the weather was wet and windy it did not stop us hiking the wonderful Jurassic coast path.
Absolutely brilliant stay and cannot recommend this property highly enough.
PS don't try and go up and down the steps at Houns Tout in 50 mph winds, calf deep mud and heavy rain. Terrifying!
We stayed with our three married children and their partners for four nights in November 2019 and we were all very impressed by the property. The front room is very large yet still inviting and warm. The kitchen is very well equipped, we cooked a number of meals there and had everything we needed, including sharp knives! The front bedroom has amazing views across the fields to the sea, and the other bedrooms had really good beds. One of the bedrooms is a little small for a couple but we managed perfectly well. The area is beautiful and we enjoyed some lovely walks from the property down to the sea and along the coast path. The arrival arrangements provided by Wendy were clear and she contacted us soon after our arrival to ensure everything was OK. The little extras (milk, bread, biscuits etc) provided for our stay were also very welcome. We really enjoyed our time at Compass Cottage and we would certainly like to return to there in the future.

Lovely property in a beautiful area
Nine of us stayed in this property very comfortably. There are 5 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms with an additional loo downstairs. The kitchen has everything you need to cook dinners, and there is plenty of room in the sitting room for all of us to sit and chat, and the dining room table and chairs easily accommodated all of us together at meal times. The owner Wendy is very helpful and is on hand for help but only if you want it. Her notes on how the house works and her local guide on trips and places to visit including restaurants, pubs and tea rooms is very comprehensive and we followed it a lot.
The area is full of lovely walks and places to visit if you prefer to drive, and there is a perfect olde worlde local pub, and a very nice tea room which changes to a restaurant in the evening just a short stone's throw away.
Do not worry about renting this property, it is a genuinely good place to spend a week or two.
5 friends holidaying together.
Compass Cottage was clean warm and very well stocked we had a wonderful week.
Our host Wendy was very helpful book in was simple we would definitely stay there again.
The property was well equipped particularly in the kitchen. Overall cleanliness good. Social areas are excellent for large family groups. Beds very comfortable. The village is lovely and cottage is in a peaceful setting but close enough to explore area's of interest. Cottage manager very helpful. All in all a very good autumn get-away.
Clean, bright, well-appointed property with ample seating for family chats and game nights. Communicative property owner made our large family stay a home-away-from-home experience. Thank you, Wendy!
