"The hotel is a little outside Taupo town centre, but it’s a very good choice if you’re just passing through, don’t need to visit the town centre, and especially if you’re planning to visit Taupo DeBretts Hot Springs. One thing to be aware of is that the hotel’s café, Espresso Cove Taupo, is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. I was also assigned a room without an elevator, so I had to carry my 23 kg suitcase and the rest of my luggage up and down the stairs myself. This was quite inconvenient, especially with heavy luggage. Overall, the location is convenient for a short stopover."

"The basic cabin was exactly what the name suggests: a basic space that fitted a bunk bed and single bed, a small table, small fridge, and enough floor space for your bag. Better than sleeping in a tent. But definitely not flash. Ours was joined to another room with just a locked door and very thin walls between us (we could easily hear everything the people in the adjoining room said) and we found the mattresses very thin and uncomfortable. But we were warm and dry."
