"The 1st room we checked in reeked of cigaret smoke. We were moved to another room, which was much better. The room was clean! The only thing I would complain about is that the toilets need to be updated. We stay at this property often. My husband and I are not heavy individuals, but I have bad knees, and was suffering from sciatic nerve. My husband was in an auto accident and suffers in his back & legs. Using the restroom is always a challenge for us, because the toilets are so low. It's like trying to sit on the floor. This last visit, we had to purchase a riser for assistance. Outside of that, everything was pleasant. The staff are great!"

"It is out in the middle of farmland, surrounded by the small town of Middlebury and its massive and NEW high school...neighborhoods of wide lawns....and also a few miles west of Shipshewanna, which is a tourist mecca. The facilities at Das Dutchman Essenhaus are exciting, superclean (the staff must be busy) and well organized. They want you to come back. The ambience is Amish life and there is an Amish bakery, a quilt shop a Corn Crib, conference facilities, a covered bridge, singing birds --and more! -- on the premises. Flowers galore!! Did I mention a pool and a carriage ride? OK, there !! .....Shops are pies-to-go and more....all this and a swimming pool too! The rooms are restful and the design and ambience is so peaceful. There are outdoor areas to you to gather with friends or extended family. When I was there, the place was inundated with quilters! Yes you can come too. Breakfast was served with a range of items, all healthy--unless you want otherwise. I could say more, but this is enough!"

"WiFi did not work- it gave an error message that the room number and name did not match. I called the front desk the name and room number were on the system correctly. They just said this happens sometimes and I wouldn’t be able to have WiFi."

"We like the location as it was not far from where we were actually going to vist my mother at. The thing i didnt like about the room was 1. the air conditioner was blowing out little black particles all over the bed when turn on high cool or high fan. It was almost like there was some type of foam insulation that had come apart and was blowing out. thankfully we had a double bed room so e just moved to the other bed. The rooms could really use a newer coat of paint and maybe something a little lighter even withthe lights on and dapes open still seemed a little dark and drab. Staff was very helpufl espically when we cut our trip short as we finished a day early and decided to head home. Cleaning staff made sure to put clean towles in our room every morning so that was a plus that we didn't have to ask for more. The free breakfst was a plus with just about anything you wanted to eat. I do wish they would have had bacon as the sausage links just wer not that tastey."
