"I cannot speak highly enough of my experience at the Courtyard by Marriott Portland City Center. After an extremely difficult situation at another hotel, I had to check in here just before midnight. The transition was seamless and the staff went above and beyond—assisting with my bags and making me feel immediately welcomed during a very stressful time. Tragically, during my stay, my emotional support animal, Gus, passed away suddenly. The compassion shown by the staff was extraordinary. They quickly helped me locate an emergency animal hospital, and their kindness did not stop there—upon my return, I found a thoughtful card waiting for me at my door. This level of care and empathy is rare. The Courtyard by Marriott Portland City Center will be my only choice whenever I return to Portland."

"When we first stepped into our room, we were blown away by how large and well set up it was. I thought maybe we'd been upgraded, but no -- it was a standard king room. It was arranged like a studio apartment with a chest -height pony wall, behind which were a good-sized mini-frudge, and a microwave under a large counter. There was a comfy sofa (two-cushion), a desk and a desk chair. Some of the king rooms may not have pony-walls, but they all have the sofa, desk, etc. There were yummy chocolate chip cookies upon arrival and breakfast was better than the average. All the staff were hospitable and competent. It's a new building, so it's in great shape. We didn't use the indoor pool, but it looked clean and inviting. I was in Salem for an outpatient procedure, and the clinic was an easy, fast, and pleasant drive away. The area has a number of stores and restaurants within easy walking distance. It's in an attractive and quiet neighborhood. I would definitely recommend this hotel, HOWEVER, if you are setting up your GPS, be sure to enter "The Hotel Salem." We just entered "Hotel Salem" and ended up at the Knight Hotel, five miles away from the Hotel Salem."

"I absolutely loved this place. It’s over a hundred years old but doesn’t feel old. It was in a great location that allowed me to walk pretty much anywhere I wanted. The art in the lobby and framed photos through the hotel were a really nice touch. I loved the amenities here, especially the free pinball machines and nightly craft beer hour! All of the staff was very friendly and helpful. This was my first time visiting Portland and I can’t wait to get back and will definitely stay at Hotel Lucia again."
