Our experience at this VRBO property was marked by significant challenges, despite the picturesque setting. Prior to our arrival, I informed the host of my 75-year-old father's condition, hoping for a comfortable stay. Unfortunately, communication with the host was non-existent despite multiple attempts via text, phone, and the VRBO system, which was hampered by service issues. This lack of response impacted our trip from start to finish, including obtaining directions and handling check-out procedures.
Our journey to the property was unexpectedly extended by three hours due to an unannounced road closure. Despite following Google Maps—which accurately led us to the property—unforeseen difficulties awaited. The property's driveway, on a steep incline, was covered with 4 feet of snow, requiring immediate shoveling without guidance on the location of necessary tools, which I eventually found. This ordeal, undertaken after a 9-hour drive, took an additional 2 hours in the dark, with my father unable to assist or access the house due to his mobility issues and the icy conditions.
Further compounding our discomfort, the property lacked basic amenities like a functional fireplace, which was disappointing. Moreover, despite the extensive cleaning and snow removal undertaken by us, a cleaning fee exceeding $100 was still levied.
Regrettably, the physical exertion resulted in me sustaining a broken finger, and I got very sick the following day.
