Welcome to Trudi’s Terrace, a cozy and stylish ground-floor apartment in Zermatt designed to give guests an unforgettable experience surrounded by spectacular views of the Matterhorn. With three comfortable bedrooms, two modern bathrooms, a well-equipped kitchen, and a private outdoor terrace, the apartment offers a welcoming base for up to 6 guests visiting the Swiss Alps.
The apartment is particularly suited to families and groups of friends who enjoy spending time together. The kitchen serves as the social heart of the home, providing a comfortable place to cook, eat, gather around the table, and enjoy entertainment together. During the warmer months, the private terrace becomes the favorite communal space, offering outdoor seating and the Matterhorn as a dramatic backdrop.
One important feature to understand before booking is the access to the apartment. Trudi’s Terrace is not directly accessible by taxi. From the nearest taxi drop-off point, guests must walk approximately 250 meters uphill along a steep pathway that includes some stairs. Guests are strongly advised to travel light and use a taxi to the nearest stop when arriving with luggage.
THE SPACE
You enter the ground-floor apartment through an entrance hall equipped with plenty of hooks for coats and other belongings. From there, the apartment opens into its comfortable and practical living spaces.
The apartment can accommodate up to 6 guests across three cozy, well-appointed bedrooms.
Each of the three bedrooms features a double bed and spectacular views toward the Matterhorn. The mountain views provide a defining feature of the accommodation, allowing guests to wake up with one of Switzerland's most recognizable peaks as part of the scenery.
The three-bedroom arrangement is particularly convenient for families or groups of friends traveling together. Each bedroom provides a dedicated private sleeping area, while the kitchen and terrace provide spaces for everyone to gather.
The apartment has two modern bathrooms. Both bathrooms are equipped with a toilet, basin, and shower, providing a practical setup for a group of up to 6 guests.
THE KITCHEN – THE HEART OF THE APARTMENT
The kitchen is the main communal space inside the apartment and is designed around spending time together.
It is well equipped with the amenities needed for everyday cooking, including an oven with hob, microwave, large refrigerator, dishwasher, and other essential kitchen equipment.
The generous kitchen setup makes it easy to prepare meals together, whether you are making a quick breakfast before heading into the mountains, preparing dinner after a day outdoors, or enjoying a traditional fondue with friends and family.
The kitchen also includes seating, making it more than simply a place to prepare food. It functions as the central gathering point of the apartment, particularly during the winter months when guests can gather indoors around a meal or spend an evening together.
A large Sony Bravia Smart TV is also located in the kitchen area. Swiss cable television has been discontinued, but guests can use streaming and entertainment applications including Netflix, Red Bull TV, YouTube, and other available apps.
This makes the kitchen a particularly social space, combining cooking, dining, conversation, and entertainment in one area.
PRIVATE TERRACE
During the summer months, the private terrace becomes the apartment's favorite communal area.
The spacious terrace provides an outdoor seating space where guests can enjoy meals, drinks, conversation, and the surrounding mountain atmosphere. With the Matterhorn as a backdrop, it offers a memorable setting for outdoor living in Zermatt.
The terrace is exclusively for the use of Trudi’s Terrace guests, providing a private outdoor area where you can relax without sharing the space with other guests.
Whether enjoying breakfast in the morning, an afternoon outside, or a meal with friends and family, the terrace provides an opportunity to make the most of the spectacular alpine surroundings.
The Matterhorn view is an important part of the experience, although guests should be aware that Zermatt is currently experiencing significant building activity. A crane has temporarily altered part of the view.
NO INDOOR LIVING ROOM
An important feature of the apartment's layout is that there is no separate indoor living room.
Instead, the kitchen functions as the main indoor communal space, with seating, dining facilities, entertainment, and everything needed to spend time together.
During summer, the spacious private terrace provides an additional communal area and is particularly well suited to outdoor meals and relaxed gatherings.
This layout makes the apartment especially suitable for guests who enjoy socializing around the kitchen and spending time outdoors rather than requiring a separate traditional living room.
GUEST ACCESS
Guests have access to the entire apartment during their stay.
This includes all three bedrooms, the kitchen, both bathrooms, and the private terrace located in front of the chalet.
The terrace is exclusively for the use of Trudi’s Terrace guests, providing a private outdoor area to enjoy throughout the stay.
LOCATION & ARRIVAL
The apartment is located in Zermatt and is positioned in an elevated area of the village.
The property is not directly accessible by taxi. Guests can take a taxi from Zermatt Station to the nearest stop, Steinmattschlief.
From Steinmattschlief, there is approximately 250 meters of walking remaining to reach the apartment. The final section is a steep uphill pathway and includes a few stairs.
This is an important practical consideration when planning your arrival, particularly if traveling with heavy luggage.
Guests who are reasonably fit will generally find the walk manageable, but the steep section can be challenging when carrying or pulling a heavy suitcase. For this reason, guests are strongly advised to travel light and to take a taxi to Steinmattschlief when arriving with luggage.
The property does not recommend this final walk for very young children, guests who are unfit, anyone with knee or hip problems or other mobility difficulties, or anyone who simply dislikes steep uphill walking.
Guests should carefully consider the access conditions before booking.
MATTERHORN VIEWS
The Matterhorn is an important part of the character of Trudi’s Terrace.
All three bedrooms have spectacular Matterhorn views, while the private terrace provides an additional outdoor setting in which to enjoy the mountain scenery.
The changing alpine landscape creates a different atmosphere throughout the day, from morning views from the bedrooms to relaxed outdoor moments on the terrace.
Please note that Zermatt is currently experiencing a period of building activity. As a result, a crane has temporarily altered part of the view. This is a temporary change caused by construction in the surrounding area.
