"It is a cute colonial style hotel in the middle of el centro de Merida. Great shopping and restaurants at walking distance. The service was attentive and courteous. I used the pool and it was refreshing and relaxing. I would recommend updating the piping system as there was a light sewage smell in the room from from the pipes. I assume from the bathroom plumbing. Other than that, cute place. Great location"

"We’ve stayed at Meliora multiple times over the last 7 years. Most of our stays were for a week or more. We loved the place for the proximity to great restaurants and shops. The property was always clean and the staff friendly. Something has changed. Not sure if there is a new management group or the company has fallen on hard times. The greeting at check in was unenthusiastic, the room was less than clean, sheets and linens were stained and the air conditioning was struggling to cool the room. Where there had been a dozen lounge chairs at the rooftop pool on previous visits, now there are only 3 or 4. The shades that run across the rooftop were tattered and filthy. The restrooms were a disgrace and trash cans overflowing. We had no choice but to sleep there one night and left early the next morning. Meliora was one of those unique properties in PDC - modern, clean, welcoming and well maintained. That’s no longer the case. Find another property for your next visit"

"Clean Room and nice service with close proximity to 5th street. The pool was lovely and the rooms were very accommodating with a great view of the garden and pool/ocean. The Cenote and Spa experience was SUPERB! Overall, a very nice stay for a quick all inlcusive getaway; drink options were good so no complaints there along with food options."

"Although the staff are nice people they are not properly trained nor management has protocols in place for properly taking care of the guests. The design of the hotel is mediocre at best but there’s nothing that can be done about that. However, other areas that can be improved are also looked over. For example an LED strip that hasn’t worked in ages, lack of outlets on the night stand etc. At the end, my overall impression is that whomever is managing this property has no interest in improvement not the proper education or knowledge to lead the employees and implement proper care of the guests."

"My stay at Playa Palms Beach Hotel was wonderful. The staff was very friendly and attentive, and let me check in early. Alfredo checked me in and was extremely kind, giving me recommendations for food and helping me get acquainted with the area. The room and patio was comfortable and clean, housekeeping left adorable towel animals. The kitchen is well equipped with dishes, cutlery, coffee mugs, etc. I enjoyed the pool, and the areas for washing sand off were extremely useful as the beaches in Playa I visited didn't have them. I found the overall atmosphere very calming, as the hotel was mostly quiet, with my only complaint being the construction noises during the day sometimes."
