"The staff were very friendly, especially Lucas and Millie. Lucas works long hours and nothing was too much trouble for him - he always went the extra mile to satisfy us. The food was excellent, both from the dinner and breakfast menus. The location and surroundings were superb. Just one thing I think could be improved. "I must say the size of our suite was impressive. What was more impressive was the cleanliness of the room. Our super king size bed had a supremely comfortable mattress, the room came with a small kitchenette area which we didn't use and plenty of tea and coffee etc and the muffins were a bonus. The bathroom was large and spotless with a great walk-in shower. Towels were fluffy and soft. Sleep quality brilliant and we would recommend this property "

We stayed in Tufted Owl overlooking the High Street - a bit ‘rumbly’ if a big vehicle went past, but there’s very little traffic in town at night. The noise didn’t affect me at all. Beds were really comfortable and the breakfast was over at The Crown (we were given a breakfast card each) which was amazing. We’re definitely coming back. "

"We had an amazing stay as a family of 4 (6 year old and 3 year old). The hotel was in a great central location but still quiet in the evening. The room was clean and in great condition. The breakfast hamper provided each morning was wonderful and it was helpful having access to the shared kitchen. "Lovingly and sympathetically restored hotel just steps from railway station and very close to town. The staff were all very kind and helpful. The veggie breakfast was AMAZING!"

"Very friendly and welcoming staff. No lift so be aware of this if you have disability needs you'd best request ground floor. Parking plentiful. Overall it's a charming example of a hotel which still has character...no key cards here!"

"Overall great stay - it's a lovely location and food is splendid. But we did request to move room after first night due to the noise of a boiler attached to other side of the wall in room 1. The manager made this move very easy, but of course it would be a different story if they had been fully booked."

"The staff were very friendly, efficient and helpful. Our room and bathroom were very clean . Food served was great and atmosphere friendly. Our only issue was that the hotel is on a busy road and as the building is old it has sash windows with single glazing so road traffic noise was a problem to start with but that is something that cannot be helped. "When it was sleep time if felt there was far too much light in the room as there was really bright led lights on the exterior wall outside. The floor was very unevean in bedroom. Very noisy at night as its a high street location. Secondary glazing would have been useful "
