Meldrum House Hotel is in a beautiful location and is a stunning building set within the grounds and golf course. We were really looking forward to staying there and using it as a base for our frequent business stays in Aberdeenshire. It fell short on a number of levels. Each wasn't a show-stopper, but added up to a really poor experience. No real selection of non-alcoholic drinks (beer or tonic), very noisy room above the kitchen, cord for hairdryer and sockets location doesn't allow you to dry your hair in front of a mirror, 1 vegetarian option (ran out of fish), wouldn't let us use drawing room in evening after dinner as it had just been cleaned, avocado for breakfast was actually vinegary guacamole you'd buy in a supermarket. I spoke to reception as we left and talked them through the points politely. They said manager would call, they didn't. Off to try Thainstone House and Pittodrie House for our regular stays.

I got an upgrade which was very good. Very spacious room. Good facilities except the shower was rather poor. I wanted to get a refund for a future booking but it was not allowed.
