This hotel is full of character. The staff are friendly and really helpful. It is an old building and the decoration and furnishing is arguably a little shabby, but it is very clean and to my mind the shabbiness is part of its charm. The parts that need to be modern - for example the plumbing - function wonderfully: the shower was excellent and the heating, if anything, too good! I had no idea what sort of hotel I had booked and I was delighted with my spacious room, the period furnishing and the wonderful view. Many thanks.

This property has seen better days, poor decorative order. The breakfast options were very poor... white bread, luncheon meat, packet chocolate croissant and cornflakes; in 2024? Really? Very disappointed. The lone member of staff was very friendly and helpful.

was a very warm and cosy room, staff very welcoming, the bathroom was a real let-down as it wasn't very clean and the shower had no hot water, so it was a cold awakening for me.

Bed was incredibly uncomfortable. Room's bathroom had a musty smell. Otherwise, the room was spacious and clean. Staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. Breakfast was average. Location was ok, it is outside the main part of Bath, so you had to drive and park to spend time in Bath. For the price, it was just ok.

If you like faded colonial type hotels then Bailbrook Lodge is for you. I loved our huge Jane Austen suite with its fantastic four poster bed and wonderful curtains plus a lovely view. Personally the very worn carpet and slightly draughty window didn't bother me at all. If you want modern airtight luxury, you might need to go elsewhere and pay a lot more. Very friendly staff also. We would stay there again.

Great little hotel in fantastic old Georgian villa. A bit quirky and individual in character. Fabulous personal service from the manager- welcoming and genuinely keen to make our stay as pleasant and comfortable as possible. Outside the city of Bath but very convenient to access the sites. The rooms we have stayed in tend to be the smaller ones but very clean and we are grateful

Ramshackle condition, shouldn’t be listed
This was the worst place we have ever stayed in. This should not be on Hotels.com (it’s our first time using Hotels.com and was very disappointed this was even listed on here). We paid £199 for one night, so was expecting something of a decent standard. It was in terrible condition and vastly overpriced Even if it was a busy weekend in Bath before Christmas, it would have been worth less than £50. From the knocked down pillar at the entry, then the tattered flag hanging down, it looked worse than Fawlty Towers. The rooms were very old, dark and dated with stained walls. The curtains were literally torn and in tatters. The bathroom was old with a weak shower. We had to wait for a system upload before being checked in by a student (who was really helpful and I think embarrassed by the whole situation). The only positive thing about the stay was the breakfast.

Wouldn't stay again if it was free
Dated, wallpaper hanging off the walls, bathroom was disgusting toilet seat stained mould everywhere, leak patches on the ceiling, the shower dribbled out water and took forever for the water to run hot! Check out was terrible no one managing the front desk. All in all the hotel was a disaster.

Comfortable, if a bit shabby in places, but this added to its charm. Easy bus access to Bath city centre. Good freshly cooked breakfast. Will certainly use again when next visiting Bath.

We thought the rooms were lovely, the bed was very comfortable. The breakfast was very good. The shower was a bit slow and the sink isnt in the bathroom, but it was all fine. The location to Bath was very good, a 30 minute walk, with a bus stop close by.

Being an old property of course has challenges to make it totally clean but they do a great job keeping it up. We liked that it was just on the outskirts of Bath so you didn't have to deal with parking issues (paying for parking at your hotel) and ease to get in and out of the city. The room we stayed in was huge even by US standards. Breakfast was good. Would recommend you give this hotel a try!

Anniversary stay
My husband and I booked a few days in bath, Somerset, for our wedding anniversary and chose the Oyo, Bailbrook Lodge hotel. We had a warm welcome from the staff and were given breakfast menus to fill out for the following day so we didn't have to wait to order the following day. We found our room to be very clean and full of character. The breakfast both days was very good and anything we needed was dealt with straight away. Thank you

City break
Great two nights away. Whilst the decor is quite dated, it adds to the charm of the property. The service was amazing. Breakfast was really good, all cooked to perfection. The eggs Benedict was really good! Would definitely stay again and recommend to friends.

We couldn't fault our stay. Greeted by a cheerful friendly young man at check-in, lovely clean and comfortable room and excellent breakfast in the morning. Would definitely go back.

A Lovely Stay
Was made to feel extremely welcome and the staff had a lovely attitude. Nothing was too much trouble. Everywhere was clean and comfortable but perhaps the decor was a little tired...... good value for money though, especially as it was free to park next to the property.

We had a very nice experience, the staff was friendly, nice breakfast, comfy bed. It's a bit far from the tourist attractions (around a 40-minute walk) but there is a handy bus stop nearby from where you can get a bus to the town centre.

There was ample onsite parking. All the staff were polite, friendly and attentive to our needs. The cooked breakfast was excellent, with locally sourced ingredients. Towels were changed daily, and the room made fresh every day. The bathroom was clean. The gardens were a little unkempt, and the property looked tired and in need of a freshen up. Overall the stay was good value and we would stay again

I wish I had booked somewhere else :(
This lodge is very tired. The entrance and reception are cobbled together which really doesn’t help with the first impression. The overall decor is in need of an over hall. The first room was generally run down and we found a huge stain on the duvet and stained pillows- grim. It really spoilt our trip. After speaking to the team member, he found us another room which was slightly better. Tbh, the staff were kind, breakfast was good. It’s a quiet location and it’s set in lovely grounds. However overall It needs lots of money spent on it to bring it up to standard.
