Second time my son and myself have stayed at the Malone as its convenient for the American embassy.
The hotel is very clean, the staff welcoming and very helpful. We had a lovely spacious twin room at the front of the hotel, the only issue we had was the bathroom light was flickering and it was like a disco when you were in there. It was reported but couldn't be fixed as the maintenance man had gone off duty. At breakfast there was a good choice and service was quick. Will definitely stay here again if I come to Belfast again.
The property was very clean, relaxing and welcoming. Easy to get to and in a quiet area but not too far to be convenient. The bedroom however was very hot and no way of lowering the temperature without having window wide open.

Nice communal areas. Didn’t help that my room key wouldn’t work and they moved me to the room next to the aircon system
This is a lovely hotel set in a quiet residential road near the university. It is about 20 minute walk to the centre of Belfast.
The staff are very friendly and helpful and the cooked breakfast has great options and is tasty.
The only downside was the room was in need of some tlc with a bin with a bashed in top and a broken tap cover and very sparse decoration.
I would definitely recommend this hotel for its friendliness and location and breakfast.
Unfortunately we were assigned a room across the street and not actually in the hotel. We had no forewarning and when I expressed my concern, the rather inefficient male receptionist actually giggled. We had to swap my 82 year old mother with someone we knew staying at a hotel nearby because she would have been too isolated during the night as she was not actually in the hotel building. This wasn’t the enjoyable stay we had anticipated although the accommodation was quite nice.
It was a lovely suite but no remotes for TVs or cups for coffee machine which I reported but was not rectified. All in all a good property to stay.

Not Good Enough
we have complained directly to the hotel. our booking specifically asked for an accessible bathroom. we were sent to a building across the road from the hotel and before we left reception I asked for confirmation that the bathroom was accessible and was assured that it was. we traipse across the road and on reaching our room discovered that there was only a bath with an overhead shower. my husband rang reception and we were asked to return to the main building. over we went and we were allocated a room in the main building which we were told was fully accessible. it wasn't, however it did have a small walk in shower and fed up at that stage we decided it would do for the one night. however when using the shower it had no Holders for soap, shampoo etc and involved a real juggling act to wash. not ideal when you have limited mobility.
furthermore when I went to pour some water, the bottle I lifted had the seal broken and some of the water missing. when I lifted the second bottle and a covered glass to use, I found residual water in the glass despite the lid so someone had previously used the glass. not reassuring about housekeeping and hygiene standards!
All in all a poor experience and not anywhere good enough for a 4 star hotel.
