What a fantastic holiday base to explore, Cumbria,Lakes,Northumberland and Scottish boarders. If you cant survive without wifi and a mobile signal dont go. If you want a relax and a recharge what a fantastic place to stay. Owners great contact and accessible if required other than that left to own devices. Unlike some others found no issue with mattress or shower. A couple of light bulbs could be replaced but that's being picky if looking for a fault. Overall excellent break. Loved the red squirrels, owls at night . Review independently collected and verified by Reevoo

An excellent cottage but needs a little maintenance. We’ve been many times over the last 5-6 years and will continue to visit. However, one light in the living room and one outside light has never worked. Just a minor niggle.

Lovely place to relax and unwind. Accommodation was excellent and the little extras that you wouldn’t expect made it perfect. Even though the main farm house is opposite we never saw anyone or was overlooked.

We enjoyed a restful and relaxing break at the Fauld. The cottage is very comfy and well equipped and makes an ideal base for walking Hadrian's Wall and for exploring the Lake District, Northumberland national park and the Solway coast. The garden is also fully enclosed, which is very useful if you have a dog We would highly recommend the cottage

We were attracted to The Fauld because it has a hot tub, we were able to bring our dog, and because it is miles away from towns and cities. The hot tub was wonderful after a day exploring Cumbria and Northumbria (including the Kielder Forest and various parts of Hadrian's Wall), our dog was happy and safe, and we had a couple of good opportunities for star gazing while in the hot tub. Being on a working farm was not a problem for us and we enjoyed seeing the farm animals as well as the wildlife. However we felt that the owners were less interested in the cottage than when they first opened it and we didn't feel any sense of welcome or assistance in settling in. The information provided about the area was minimal (thankfully we got some good recommendations from staff at visitor centres in the area), there were no fresh items in the fridge to help us get started, the decor is more basic than illustrated, the towels were pitiful (bring some of your own especially for the hot tub) and there were several appliances that just didn't work and we suspected they hadn't for some time (dishwasher, electric fireplace, lights, etc.) We have stayed at a few cottages before where we have been welcomed by the owner, some welcome items were provided, and everything had been checked to see that it was functioning. But, we would still recommend the Fauld as it was good value for money, just bring a few extra things with you.

A lovely cottage in a remote location, perfect for that peaceful getaway. The enclosed rear garden was great for the dog and the hot tub was excellent. It is a working farm so expect some noise from vehicles etc. We found the bed uncomfortable and feel the mattress needs changing, other than that we had a lovely 4 night break and would recommend The Fauld to others.

Secluded setting with high levels of privacy, exactly as it appears in the pictures & highly recommended for getting away from everyone - the only traffic is the occasional farm vehicle. 4G signal on '3' was good, but almost no signal on my partner's 'EE' phone - so be aware that, depending on your phone, you may be completely out of contact with the outside world whilst at The Fauld. The property was clean and well presented, and suitable for dogs due to its enclosed garden. There are good opportunities for walking locally. For eating out we would recommend The Duke of Cumberland pub in Castle Carrock, and the cafe at Lanercost Priory, both of which are very dog-friendly.

Great little cottage out in the sticks , peaceful and very relaxing venue . Hadrian's wall is a stone throw away and Scotland is just a short drive . The hot tub was a great bonus to come back to after a long day to just relax and enjoy the view of the lambs on the farm . This was our first visit but won't be our last .

Quiet and relaxing, the walks were full of beautiful scenery and wildlife. The roads are very quiet. Would highly recommend Samson Inn. The cottage was cosy and comfortable. The hot tub was wonderful to come back to. Disappointed not to be welcomed, didn't meet the owners at all. The odour from the drains in the kitchen and bathroom when running water was unpleasant but overall a wonderful holiday.

Absolutely loved our stay at the fauld! The area is lovely and secluded. There is nothing close but that's exactly what we wanted, you can drive to the nearest coop it's about 10 mins. We walked to the pub but was 4 Miles each way. The location is perfect to explore Hadrians wall! The cottage was lovely and secure for our dogs who enjoyed it just as much as us!
