Self-Catering Farmhouse Cottage set in the Dorset Countryside (Pet Friendly)

  • Lancombes House self-catering cottages offer accommodation in beautiful West Dorset from 2 to 28 people. Our three self-catering cottages (two that sleep 12, one that sleeps 4) are well equipped properties, ideal for exploring Dorset and beyond. This listing is for The Farmhouse - a self contained cottage perfect for larger groups.

    The self-catering holiday cottages are all part of a 200 year old converted barn and farm building, arranged around a courtyard.

    The cottages are set in 10 acres and surrounded by the beautiful hills and valleys of this unspoilt part of West Dorset, which has been designated an 'Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty'.

    The Farmhouse has 6 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms (2 en-suite), a downstairs WC, a beautiful large, wood kitchen with a range style cooker with open plan dining area and a large lounge. Lancombes Farmhouse is perfect for large parties and groups or families who wish to rent self-catering accommodation together.

    The Farmhouse has its own BBQ area, with gas BBQ and seating overlooking the valley down to the Jurassic Coast.

    Lancombes Farmhouse has free Wi-Fi access.

    All of our cottages are pet friendly so bring your four and two legged best friend(s) with you! We accept dogs, cats, rabbits, guinea pigs, hamsters and more!

    * Pets are welcome - charged at £15 each per week. £10 for a short stay.
    * The Farmhouse has a change over on Fridays during peak season. (Unless by prior arrangement)
    * Short Breaks available. Please contact us for details.
    * The Farmhouse has a 3 night minimum stay.
    * Bed linen is included. Please bring your own towels. Towels can be hired for £1.50 per hand & bath towel set.
    * Cots and highchairs are available on request (subject to availability).
    * Central heating.
    * Wood burning stove. Supplies of logs can be bought locally.
    * There is no charge for electricity.
    * Kitchen is equipped with a range type cooker, microwave, fridge/freezer and dishwasher.
    * Laundry facilities on site at no extra charge.
    * All cottages have a DVD player, with a central DVD/Book library.
    * Communal Games Room, including a pool table.

My family and I (12 of us) enjoyed a week-long stay at this very spacious place. All of us sat comfortably at a large dining table to enjoy meals together, and we were able to sit and relax in the living room with multiple sofas. Kitchen is well equipped with many pots and pans and dishes, and we enjoyed cooking together. The setting is also beautiful, in a small village with wonderful views. Thank you for the lovely time!

Lovely stay

Lovely stay in the Farm house, plenty of room for everyone. The grandchildren loved seeing the horses and plenty of open space for them to run around. Thanks for a very enjoyable stay.

What a find! Looking for something suitable for 12 people including teenagers is not easy. Lancombes farmhouse was brilliant. Very spacious where people could spread and so well appointed. The Christmas decorations were a nice touch. Adrian, the owner, was very friendly and helpful although still giving us privacy. Beds were extremely comfy and good shower and bathrooms. The setting is lovely and we took advantage of local footpaths to do a three mile walk straight from the front door.

Perfect for a pre Christmas get together.

We always choose a large house catering for 12 for a family get together. We have a Christmas dinner for which the kitchen was great and the lounge was one of the best we have stayed in for size and comfort. The house was lovely and warm and the beds were very comfortable. It is very rural but only a short drive to take a walk along the coastal path and the rest of the time we spent chilling out ...

Lovely break in a tranquil setting

We booked the farmhouse for Easter weekend and to celebrate our mums 84th birthday. Everything was spotlessly clean when we arrived and the house was lovely and warm We had a wonderful weekend relaxing and going to the beaches nearby Highly recommend The Pymore Inn for food where we all went for mums birthday lunch The games room at the farmhouse was particularly popular with the teenagers who had a pool tournament Thank you for a memorable stay!

Absolutely perfect for our special family celebrations getaway with the dogs too. Spacious and so well equipped - we cooked breakfasts and dinners for 12 most days and could enjoy the food around the lovely big table all together. Beautiful walking straight off the farms and short drive to our favourite hills. Comfortable beds and plenty of storage. Adrian made us feel so welcome and we quickly made the farmhouse our home. Hopefully, we will return again for future family celebrations.

Family holiday

We had a lovely week staying in the Farmhouse, which was a perfect size for our family get together of 11 people - ages ranging from 16 months to 70 - plus 2 dogs. The property was very comfortable with a very well-equipped kitchen and a large comfy lounge, and bedrooms. The outside area was great with stunning views from the bbq area, plus enough space for outdoor games and lots of choice of various dog walks from the house. The hosts were lovely and very welcoming with good communication beforehand. We would definitely return to the Farmhouse in the future as everyone had such a relaxing time there.

70th birthday

This is probably the very best holiday accommodation i have ever stayed in. It was clean, spacious and the kitchen was superbly well equipped. The grounds are extensive, wirh beautiful views. We were here in late spring when rhe blossom and birdsong are amazing. We had an age range of 9 to 70 and everybody was happy. The games room got a lot of use! The hosts were pleasant and gracious. A very very big thank you to our hosts. Worth every penny!,

Fantastic stay with 8 adults and two toddlers, loads of space, well equipped and very responsive and helpful hosts. The kids loved talking to Mabel the horse each day and watching the cows and sheep close by. BBQ area really nice and generally just beautiful setting and great place to stay, I do hope we'll be back!

A beautifully clean home from home property. A large rambling house on three floors offered a generous space for all of us to relax and celebrate a family occasion. The host was kind and informative about attractions in the local area.We were able to use all of the outside space and enjoyed the BBQ with a view of the sea. The bedrooms were large and nicely furnished with comfy beds and we all slept so well. Kitchen and dining area large enough for all of us to eat together. The dishwasher was really useful although there was plenty of plates and cutlery. The courtyard games room looked great but we didn’t need it for our short stay. Convenient for local beaches, supermarkets and eateries.

Stunning views

Great family getaway

Our entire family stayed here to celebrate a special birthday. We were very pleased with the farmhouse and the amount of space. The hosts were very pleasant and helpful. Kitchen was well equipped. Only reason we gave a 4 for cleanliness is because it was a little dusty (But expected due to it being a farmhouse!) Would recommend to all.

Christmas weekend

We, as a family stayed in the property over the Christmas period 23-27 Dec. 12 of us in total ages ranging from 2-60+. We had an absolutely wonderful stay, the house was beautifully decorated and plenty of room for us all. Thank you for a memorable Christmas for us all.
