"We enjoy country cottage stays and the Southern Cross met all our requirements and needs. It was a delightful base as we explored East Devon over a five day stay,,,"
"Beautiful spot and secluded, allowing for great walks along the cliffs, very hospitable staff, good food, welcome after a long treck, or to set us up nicely for the day with their great breakfast."
"Lovely rural Dorset pub. Excellent food, locally sourced. Staff very friendly. It is very rural, and that is its charm. Do be prepared for high hedgerows and single track roads but worth it when you get there."

The hotel is quite away from Bridport itself if you want to walk 25 mins to West Bay and a further 35 onto Bridport but 10 mins by car. Bridport itself is a lovely little town to visit plenty of places to eat and drink with some lovely walks.

Nice area for holidays and weekends away. Nice and scenic with lovely walks, watch out for the huge hills though :)
"This Hotel has been recently renovated to a high standard. The room was was perfect for us, and the breakfast was with some great quality produce (bacon especially)! Staff were really nice and helpful too. Just there when you need them. No fuss. Highly recommended. "
"Delightful property with excellent rooms. Quiet views into fields. Our host was wonderful and the breakfasts were absolutely delicious as was tea and cake in the lawn.
It’s a very windy lane to the farm but well worth the drive. Highly recommend "
"What a fabulous place!! The superb staff, wonderful food, great ales, good parking, beautifully maintained room and excellent location made our stay an amazing experience. From the first moment we arrived, every detail was taken care of..... including an intial taster of the fine local brewers "Palmers" ale.
The room, although compact, was really comfortable, though the bathroom was roomy and towels plentiful. The restaurant food was fabulous, with the Lambs Liver and Steak and Ale pie being very popular. The location, near to the bus stop and the harbour, was ideal for easg access to the beautiful Wsst bay, with stunning views of the Jurassic coastline cliffs.
A fabulous hotel, we'll definitely return. "
"If you are looking for a vfm option in West Bay this hotel is the place. We had room 7 on the first floor, spacious, whirlpool bath and even a teapot. In our opinion 2 negatives for this room, the mattress was way too soft and the seagulls from 0400hrs, can't really do anything about the 2nd being near the sea!!! The breakfast is quality, great choice and only £10 per day. The hotel is not statebor modern if that is what you are looking for, however the atmosphere and staff make up for it."
"If you fancy a comfortable, clean and friendly Dorset inn with the best of breakfasts and delicious high quality meals, book in at The Marquis of Lorne. Surrounded by wonderful views, walking paths and close to the sea. Great for relaxing without children, also great for young families - an excellent garden play area."
