Hidden in the rolling hills of Melplash, Dorset, this beautifully crafted, fully insulated yurt offers a unique and peaceful escape into nature.
Step inside and you’re greeted by the warmth of a wood burner, a sumptuous superking bed, and soft light streaming through a stargazing roof window, the perfect setting for quiet mornings and cosy evenings under the stars. Just five metres away, your private kitchen and dining area provide everything you need for relaxed meals, whether you’re cooking up breakfast with local produce or enjoying a candlelit dinner. Outside, the spacious decking area invites you to stretch out on sun loungers, dine al fresco, or unwind by the fire pit as dusk settles over the landscape. And when it’s time to truly switch off, your own private wood-fired hot tub awaits, with breathtaking views over the lake and across the open countryside.
The land surrounding the yurt feels like a secret world of its own. Two lakes offer wild swimming, paddleboarding, or peaceful moments by the water’s edge. Wander through the orchard, follow winding footpaths through meadows and hedgerows, and breathe in the stillness that only a place like this can offer. Wildlife is abundant, the skies vast and ever-changing, and the pace of life deliciously slow. Despite the seclusion, you’re never far from local charm. The pub is a short walk away, perfect for a hearty meal and a drink after a countryside stroll. A 30-minute drive brings you to Charmouth Beach on the Jurassic Coast, ideal for fossil hunting or a bracing sea swim.
Whether you’re looking for a romantic retreat, a digital detox, or a base to explore the best of West Dorset, this peaceful yurt with its lakeside views and rustic charm is a place to relax, restore, and reconnect. There is a wood-fired hot tub that you are welcome to use during your stay. The owners also host wood-fired pizza evenings in their wood-fired pizza oven using local ingredients. The cost is £15 for adults and £7.50 for children. Beach 12 miles.
