"great breakfast and comfortable bed"

"The room was clean but very basic amenities, not even a bottle of water could be found there. The staff was not knowledgeable at all when we were asking questions about the hotel and possible plans to do nearby. "

"We've been visiting this place for decades and our most recent visit, since taken over by Sunday, fell short of expectation. Maybe teething or transitional issues but the place has lost its charm. We were surprised to be charged for swimming, £12 pppd, this had always been included previously. We went down to the bar and restaurant for dinner but left within 10 minutes as there was no atmosphere at all, you could hear a pin drop, no music or TV on, no one wanted to speak. We chose a table to sit on and it hadn't been cleaned, can't say the bar staff were run off their feet... The grounds are beautiful and the rooms are always clean, fresh, with everything you need. Now you have to request housekeeping via an App, it will not be done routinely. Obviously these companies want to find every way to increase profit but it might come at detriment to what makes this place lovely. Not sure we'll be back."

"Great location for all the local attractions. Clean and safe. Parked with ease in the multi story across the road as no spaces in the one at the back of the hotel. We’ve stayed at two other hotels in the same chain in Kingston and Hampton Wick. They have the edge as provide a prosecco / beer as a welcome drink. You can also get a latte at breakfast for no extra charge at the other hotels. We had to pay extra here which I feel is a bit ‘cheap’. Fab bathroom. Loved the Molton Brown touch. Disappointed that when my husband turned the bedside lamp off to go sleep it fell on top of him with exposed wires. We told reception and it was removed whilst we were at breakfast. Safe didn’t work either which we later found out was a battery issue. All in all, we enjoyed our stay and would recommend to others. "

"The overall condition is good, staff helpful, windows rattle badly keeping me awake and bathroom needs some TLC. Have stayed in a lot worse. For one night it did the job. Breakfast was good. 3 out of 5 overall. Mixer tap only deliver luke warm water so no way to have drink in the middle of the night , needs replacement.( room19)"

"The breakfast was very overpriced. The room was very attractive, historic and clean. The bed was comfortable. The family enjoyed the pool. Major complaint was that it was a hot day, the air conditioning wouldn't work and to make it worse, the heat wouldn't go off. "

"Spa is fabulous, especially the strong water jets on the shoulder - fab. There were a few people about but it did not feel 'busy' - I did not have to wait to use anything. Same can be said for the gym which had better machines and more variations on kettle bells than my home gym. Godo quality breakfast with variety of choice, inclduing several options for milk. Lovely, friendly, welcoming and very polite staff at all touchpoints from arrival throughout. We were very happy with our last minute spontaneous visit. Would definitely visit again. PS rooms were really clean, which is important to me. And when my husband realised he was going to be too hot at night, the staff were very quick to accommodate with a helpful solution of a thick sheet instead of duvet."
