Perfect Mountain Getaway for Family Reunion and Micro Wedding!
Our family of 15 along with 2 of our close friends stayed at Thunder Butte Mountain Lodge for a few days for a family vacation. It was also to celebrate our wedding. The place is well taken care of and the view is breathtaking. We never got tired of waking up to mountains in the backyard with a cup of coffee in hand and fall breeze brushing through our hair. There's plenty of things to explore and keep everyone entertained. Let it be a small yet steep hike or a dip in the hot tub. Downtown Woodland Park is also just 20min away with groceries stores and plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, to try out. Some items in the house did need repairs and the site manager Tiffany always provided us with prompt responses. Tiffany definitely made sure that our stay was as comfortable and memorable as it could be. We really appreciate her help and communications. We can't wait to be back in the future for a reunion.

Guests were amazed! A perfect setting for a small intimate wedding. Plenty of room for parents, grandparents, stepparents and siblings. Every one raved about the rooms and amenities. One dead bird found on a outdoor balcony. We think it crashed into a window. Sauna would not heat up. No other issues found or reported.

Ideal Elopement Destination
Excellent all around, beginning with the unparalleled communication and responsiveness of property management, all the way to the attention to detail surrounding our small wedding plans. Location is beyond gorgeous, allowing for privacy and feelings of closeness with your guests. Kitchen amenities could not have been more supportive for our small wedding, rehearsal dinner and reception. Mountain mansion family reunion
The description and photos of this property do not do it justice. This place is spectacular! 1 1/2 hours from Denver. Beautiful and easy drive. We had a family reunion with 8 families in the lodge, a few that stayed in woodland park and plenty of room to park an rv. Everyone was comfortable in their spacious beautiful rooms. So many great places to gather. The pub was a huge hit with bar, fridge, sink, plenty of seating, beautiful pool table and large patio with propane fire pit. Lodge provided back up propane tanks. We also enjoyed the large firepit. Bring lawn chairs as those are not provided. The hot tub was clean hot with a beautiful view. The steam room was amazing as well as the sauna and a nice place to exercise. Games and toys provided for the kids. Beautiful large deck’s with views like a postcard. Beautiful stadium area that we used for family photos. Even found a chalk board and had chalk markers to make a sign for photos. Cooking was so easy with double oven, 8 burner stove, 2 fridges. Property had a ton of spices, dishes, pots, pans, really everything you could think of. 2 smokers with pellets and a grill. Everything in this loge was so beautiful and attention to detail was obvious. Also 2 large washers and dryers. Tiffany was so great to work with. Answering questions quickly. We really have no complaints and would 100% recommend this property for any large gathering.

No Cell Service or WiFi
The property is lovely, but there is no cell service and really no Wi-Fi. While the property has Wi-Fi network, there is effectively no internet connectivity. On the first afternoon there was some limited satellite service, but we quickly ran out of data. The limited nature of the satellite service is mentioned in a notebook on the property. There were people in our party who had hoped to work and were unable to. They had to drive several miles to send an email or even check-in for flights. The listing of "Free Wi-Fi" is completely misleading and in today's remote work environment unacceptable!

****We now have Starlink internet at the Lodge so this should greatly improve our WiFi service. During your stay we still had HughesNet. I wish I had known the data had run out for your family as I could have fixed that for you in 5 minutes. I can go online and purchase more “tokens” on HughesNet. Sometimes this happens when a guest streams and it uses all the WiFi data up quickly but when that happens it’s a quick fix and we can purchase more data for you within a few minutes and then the internet would have been working fine for you and your guests during your entire stay.

Beautiful property perfect for our family gathering
Beautiful home that was specifically built for hosting large gatherings of family/friends. We had 16 family members and there was plenty of room for all. The kitchen is spacious and well stocked with an additional fridge in the adjacent pantry/laundry room. The dining/great room could easily seat 24+ for dinner. Everything was clean and tidy and the beds were comfortable. The weather was ideal during our stay and family members enjoyed hiking around the 40acre property, relaxing in the large hot tub and spa, and nightly conversation around the wood burning fire pit (there is also a propane fire pit on the front patio that can be used when fire bans are in effect). We also enjoyed hiking nearby in the national forest. The bar/rec room worked great for those that wanted to stay up late without disturbing others. Our only complaint was the wi-fi satellite internet service was EXTREMELY slow (barely above dial-up speed), when there should be options for faster options in today’s “connected” world - even in semi-remote locations such as this. There also was no cell service (I was able to get 1 bar if I climbed about 100yrds up the mountain behind the house). So dont plan on working remote other than answering simple emails. There arent many properties that can host large family groups like this one and it worked great for us. Thxs again for a memorable stay!!

Amazing house!
This house was fantastic! We had a large group of over 20 for a family celebration and the house was perfect for us. Massive kitchen and dining areas, and all suites worked perfectly for families with kids. And on a beautiful location - We really had an enjoyable time at this property!

Perfect for a mountain wedding!
My wife and I had our wedding on the property and it was everything we wanted for a mountain wedding. The lodge was big enough for our immediate families and grandparents to stay at. The county road to get there is a little bumpy but you expect that with such a remote location. The property is beautiful with views all around. Perfect for hosting a small wedding that you’ve always dreamed about. Plenty of space indoors and out!

Beautifully located in the heart of a mountain.
While the outside of the home and location are beautiful, the inside could use some updating for the price. We loved the kitchen and den, the pool table was a nice touch as well as the vast dining area! The steam rooms worked perfectly, and the hot tub and fire pit were just fine. Lots of locations to find your own space in a large house with many people if you want. I do have some complaints with the cookware, mainly that the pots and pans are not of great quality, and are what you would expect from a low budget store. Most of the nonstick were scratched extensively. I understand they may not have been treated well by other guests, however, I expected better quality all the same. Other than the cookware, there are some minor things which were needing replaced and maintained such as the door knob to the outdoor porch from the dining area, sharp edges of the tile which cut two people in the wet steam room; the handrail going up the front steps and the beginning of the driveway, which if you are not careful could easily damage the underside of a shorter vehicle. However, the location and the solitude were what made this location amazing! Being in the mountain, while having this size of a house was perfect! Would recommend for larger sized groups for sure.

Home Base for US Airforce Graduation
The property was perfect for our extended family group to gather to celebrate our grandson's graduation from the United States Airforce Academy. It is a bit of a drive to the USAF campus, but it was worth the drive. The property had enough room for all 21 of us. The kitchen had all the pots and pans and amenities. We grilled burgers and dogs, roasted marshmallows, hiked right from the house and enjoyed the outdoor "Ampitheater" where the kids put on their version of a frozen production. There was enough room for everybody (from 3 to 75) to enjoy leisure activities.

Surprise in the middle of nature!
We had a wonderful time! Nature, hit tub, pool table....plenty of ways for our guests to interact or find some quiet time. Kitchen was so great to prepare our meals. Lots of great views and wild life. Unforgettable! We will be back!

Perfect space for our large family!
Our family of 18 loved the Lodge and the gorgeous mountain scenery around it. The kitchen was well equipped for our large meals. The bedrooms were a nice oasis for each individual couple. There was a lot of room to hang out together or to get away in smaller groups. We spent a lot of time in the cozy sitting room on the main floor. There was a beautiful snow the first night we were together, so Grandpa was able to take the kids and grandkids sledding down a hill right outside of the lodge. We would highly recommend this beautiful property!

Christmas 2022 Vacation
We are a large family from Texas visited this property in Colorado and it was such a wonderful experience. Enjoyed the scenery, the house fit 5 families comfortably. We had plenty of activities to do at the property. Hiking, making smors, play pool inside, plenty of board games to play, got to do karaoke. First day had no water due to a freeze but property owners assisted as best as they could with the situation especially since it was close to Christmas had a hard time getting someone to check the pipes but weather warmed up and we got water. Property owners were very open with communicating with us.

An amazing place to stay and get married!
We had a lovely time at Thunder Butte Lodge. All of our guests loved it so much. It is such a beautiful place to stay! We got married there, and Tiffany made everything so easy. It's nerve-wracking to get married somewhere without being able to see it in person, but Tiffany was so great. She answered every little question we had and even sent us some additional photos to help us plan for the day. We were so grateful to get married at such a beautiful place and for all of our family to have a built-in place to stay right there.

Team Retreat
Overall our stay at the lodge was delightful! No cell reception, which I didn’t know about initially, but it was a blessing in disguise, as it served to disconnect our team from their devices and reconnect with one another. Wifi internet was almost non-existstant, but I wasn’t too bothered by that. Beautiful location, beautiful home. Thanks for a great stay!

We had a wonderful time at this location! Had more than enough room for all of us. Kitchen and dining was by far the best feature of the home. Did have a few problems Maintenance of the property is not good, we had to fix many items, such as ceiling fan and shower heads. Also was only clean on the surface, floors are very dirty under furniture (sit on one chair and you could see under other furniture, dirt and candy wrappers). My husband had to clean the kitchen sink! Also, there were not enough linens for all of us either.

60th birthday celebration
My siblings have all had birthday gatherings at special locations, and mine was no different. Sixteen of us met was various states across the country at Thunder Butte for a long weekend of celebration and fun! We thoroughly enjoyed our stay at the Lodge. He kitchen was filled with everything we needed to make our daily meals. Plenty of bedrooms allowed for afternoon reading or “quiet” time after late nights of playing games in the downstairs pub.. We took long walks and enjoyed the beautiful scenery of the mountains. Communication with the manager was spectacular prior to our stay when I had a few questions. It was a truly memorable weekend, and I’m so happy that we chose to stay at this property for our celebration.

House has potential but lacking management
We stayed in this house for family vacation. There were 21 of us- 2 months old to 58 yrs old. We stay every summer in a house somewhere in the US & Caribbean. I must say this house was a disappointment. Working with Tiffany was great. The process was great. But then we get to the house. Cons- furniture is worn out. Very much worn out! Pull out upstairs is broken, chairs in kitchen have springs coming up through the seats, etc - house does not have AC. Only 2 bedrooms have window units. We stayed in July 2022 & house ran 83 degrees every day. Most of us are from Texas- we can take heat but this was unbearable. There are fans but it just blows around the hot air. - pool table pockets are broken so balls fall out - surrounding area is beautiful but there has been a fire at some point so not as pretty as you expect & listing doesn't explain that. Pros- house was big so it was a great fit for all of us. We made due because we aren't negative people but disappointed in the condition of this property. First home we all agreed we would not return to. I emailed Tiffany and explained all of the broken things in the house & she had a lot of excuses. So beware. I'm not sure anyone wants to fix these issues.

We ordered a new kitchen table set 4 months ago from American Furniture. The furniture store has called us repeatedly to let us know there has been delays in receiving our order. The store called us 3 days ago to let us know the new kitchen table and chairs are finally ready to be delivered in a few days. The supply chain delays in this country are affecting everyone and is out of our control. These are not excuses, these are facts. As for the AC, the two rooms on the main level have AC and the rest of the rooms have fans and patio doors and multiple windows that can be opened to allow for the mountain breeze to come in. The Lodge is 7,138 square feet and as with most mountain homes at a higher altitude is not air conditioned. During those warmer days, it was in the mid 50's at night during her stay. The first time this renter contacted me about her complaints was 2 weeks AFTER her stay. She didn't one time contact me during her stay to let me know there were any issues.

Wedding weekend with family!
This was the perfect place to host our wedding! It had everything we needed to make our experience truly amazing. We started our mornings with coffee on the deck and enjoyed the sights and sounds of the morning. Some of us hiked while others went down to the pub and played cards. The kitchen was big enough to prepare meals for 18 people, and there was enough room for to caterer to prepare everything and set up a buffet-style meal in the dining room for our wedding meal. We all enjoyed our own rooms to wind down at the end of the day, too!

Wow! Perfect for a big family vacation!
Our entire family (12 adults and a handful of kiddos) had an absolute BLAST at the lodge. The space was perfect for everyone having their own room, but being able to have plenty of bonding time for meals, out by the fire pit, in the "pub" and in the hot tub. Plus, a dining area that fit all 18 of us! The kids loved exploring the property, and we were able to get a few hikes in nearby with amazing views while spending most of our time at the house/on the property. Woodland Park was just a short drive in if we needed anything or wanted to pick up some food. Tiffany was available to answer all of our questions and make is a seamless stay. Perfect place for our large family to reconnect and have the best time!

It was a beautiful house. Clean and perfect for our vacation.
Every year the family, entire family, 3 generations, 5 families with adult kids and 2 little children. We all stayed in the house. We slept on air mattress and just enjoy the time together. During the days we went into the city and did Colorado activities. At night we enjoyed the house and each other. It was one of our favorite trips and one of our favorite houses. We would definitely recommend it. Thanks

Family Reunion
The house was huge and great for our party of 18. So many different gathering spaces, from the bar area, the patio, the deck, and the dining room. However, the best part is the property, which pictures cannot do justice. We were impressed with the house, but the surrounding area and the views from the property were amazing. We would do a quick hike to the top of the mountain, right out the back door, around sunset and it was truly breath-taking. The house could use a little updating, but it really doesn't matter. 5 stars for sure. Tiffany was very easy to work with as well.

This place was beautiful! Very remote and serene. We had our daughters wedding here and it went so smoothly. Everyone was wowed by the house and the grounds. Tiffany, the hostess, was so patient with all of our questions and communicated thoroughly. We will plan another trip here. It is worth it!

Spacious beautiful lodge
Plenty of room for everyone! Best stocked kitchen I’ve seen! We had snow in May so enjoyed the hot-tub multiple times. The pub is a great space for everyone to hang out.

Rustic and lovely
I brought 6 clients to the lodge for a retreat. There was plenty of room with bedrooms and bathrooms for all. The kitchen was well stocked and the property was gorgeous. It definitely is rustic - the house does feel “older” but not in a problematic way. In a charming way. We had a wonderful stay.

Great vacation rental
Had a wonderful time staying at the secluded rental home. Nice, scenic drive to the house and plenty of parking spaces all around. Driveways were clean and roads leading up to the house as well. Hot tub was a great hit with everyone and the steam room/sauna was perfect for winding down after skiing. Had no issues with wifi and overall everyone had a good time!!

Incredible lodge for a beautiful wedding!
We couldn’t have dreamt of a better lodge for our wedding! We had our immediate family stay with us at the lodge for the entire week and everything was perfect. There was a perfect amount of space and the description of the property was spot on! Tiffany was incredible to work with and made our stay so easy. Would more then highly recommend staying here, especially for any large gathering!

Ah-mazing!
My family came from the South to spend the New Year in Colorado. I chose Woodland Park to accommodate my huge family requesting to all stay under one roof. Tiffany was extremely accommodating before the trip. She is quick to respond to any questions or concerns we had. The house is huge and beautiful. They kept the Christmas decorations up that were great for pictures. The rooms are super spacious and the beds are comfy! Thank you Tiffany and cleaning crew for making our stay memorable ❤️

Family Christmas
Tiffany and the staff here at Thunder Butte were aware that this was a family Christmas to try to enjoy our first Christmas after a family tragedy. Everyone went the extra mile to make sure that this experience was as comforting and comfortable as it could possibly be. Every detail is thought of. Communication with the host is excellent. We could not have asked for a better place to host 20 of us for this challenging holiday. I can not say enough about Thunder Butte and the management of this property. Beautiful location, beautiful home. Thank you so much, Tiffany, for being the most thoughtful host I have ever encountered. Extra praise for your management/cleaning team. Perfect mountain getaway
We hosted our small wedding and had such an amazing experience. The property and house are absolutely beautiful, and we were able to accommodate both of our families in one place. The pub space was also so cool to be able to use. The owners are super responsive, and helped answer any and all questions in a very timely manner. Can’t wait to go back!

Perfect Small Wedding Setting!!
Absolutely spectacular!! We had our perfect outdoor wedding there at the lodge with seating up the rock amphitheater and our reception on the lower patio, just outside of a cute little Irish Pub. Having the banquet tables and chairs on site made it super convenient and the nice dishwear for 50 was a bonus!! The weather was perfect with Aspens just changing to gold. Nature provided us with evening appearances from a doe and her 2 babies as well as several playful chipmunks. It was super hard to leave so we pledge to return. Thank you for such a wonderful setting!!

Big House.
Huge house and it was perfect for our group of guys. It needs some maintenance and not every room has A/C. Chair outside on deck was broken. Games downstairs all in disarray. Pool sticks all warped and darts all broken or damaged. Every game was missing pieces.

Awesome property with great views of the twin peaks. We had our friends reunion and must say the house is everything we asked for. Just make sure you stay for minimum of 5 nights to enjoy the property and surroundings.

Too Hot. NO AIR CONDITIONING
This could have been a five, if there was air conditioning. But there wasn't. After a day of hiking the last thing we wanted was a hot house. The 3rd floor bedrooms were miserably warm until well after midnight. Other than that, it lived up to it's write-up.

We had an unusual warm spell this past summer. I apologize that the rooms got warmer than usual. We have since purchased floor fans that are available for each bedroom in case this happens again.
