EDINBURGH'S HISTORIC CENTRE
Edinburgh has been the Scottish capital since the 15th century. It has two distinct areas; the Old Town, dominated by Edinburgh Castle and its medieval street layout and the planned neoclassical New Town with its beautiful Georgian streets and buildings. The harmonious juxtaposition of these two contrasting areas, each with many important buildings, is what gives Edinburgh its unique character. These two areas, the Old Town and the New Town, are separated by the broad, green swath of Princes Street Gardens. The New Town was the solution to the problem of an increasingly crowded city and was constructed from 1767 onwards. The Old and New Towns of Edinburgh are UNESCO World Heritage Sites.
Thistle Street and Rose Street were named after the national emblems of Scotland and England.
EDINBURGH ATTRACTIONS
The city hosts the annual Edinburgh International Festival which is one of many events that run between the end of July and early September each year. The festival comprises the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the Edinburgh International Festival, the Edinburgh Military Tattoo, the Edinburgh International Book Festival and the Edinburgh Film Festival. Edinburgh has many museums, art galleries and visitor attraction. These include Edinburgh Castle, National Museum of Scotland, Real Mary King’s Close, Palace of Holyroodhouse, Royal Botanic Gardens, Scottish National Gallery, the newly refurbished Scottish National Portrait Gallery, Greyfriar’s Bobby Memorial, Scottish National gallery of Modern Art, National Library of Scotland, Museum of Childhood and many more.
Edinburgh Zoo, covering 82 acres on Corstorphine Hill, is the second most popular paid tourist attraction in Scotland and currently home to two giant pandas, Tian Tian and Yang Guang, on loan from the People's Republic of China.
Edinburgh is also home to The Royal Yacht Britannia, decommissioned in 1997 and now a five-star visitor attraction and evening events venue permanently berthed at Ocean Terminal.

Excellent location with all the nice thoughtful touches - instructions manual, recommendations for pubs & restaurants in the immediate area. Would definitely stay there again.
This was the perfect spot for our 7 night stay in Edinburgh! The unit was clean and as advertised. It had everything we needed to make our stay most comfortable. The full sized king bed was super comfortable. The large tub was a huge hit especially after walking for several miles in the city! Having a washer/dryer was a big plus. The location was fantastic. The best part of all for me was there were NO funky smells in the unit and or entryway including obnoxious deodorizers. I’m very sensitive to mold, mildew and deodorizers so it was wonderful not to have to deal with that for an entire week. We would highly recommend this place and would stay there again.
Great location and lovely flat.
Pros:
It was easy to get to and communication with host was good.
Close to everything including good food!
The main bed is very comfortable
It was very cold out but heating lovely.
The bath/shower was nice and roomy with good pressure and hot water.
We weren’t able to get washer/ dryer to turn on despite instructions and the internet was spotty.
The only real con was the pull out bed was not at all comfortable and
It would have been helpful if the flat was better stocked; there was no tissue or paper towels, one kitchen towel and only one roll of toilet paper for 2 people for 4 days.
I stayed for a month and had a wonderful time. The apartment was perfect for me and it was easy to walk or take the bus anywhere in the city.

Good location.
Apartment comfortable, clean, and light. The only downsides were that the kitchen sink setup is awkward and the 2 flights of steps require care in climbing for older or disabled people. The location is terrific. Spacious bathroom Good TV. Close to excellent restaurants. Fluffy white towels. Nice toiletries.
Thanks Graeme. We had a lovely time in our first visit to your lovely city. A large component in that was your beautiful apartment. Safe, quiet, neighborhood with great restaurants very close by. We found our go to coffee shop and pub on the very street. We hope to be back again. Tom and Beth.
We loved staying at 47 Thistle Street. You can walk to just about anywhere in the city most tourists want to visit. Old Town, Edinburgh Castle are just a short walk(wear stable shoes for cobblestone) We highly recommend White Horse Oyster restaurant. New Town had tons of great restaurants you can pop into, though reservations are taken in the smallest places even. Thistle Street Bar below was a great place for drinks and music & the bartender was generous with his whisky knowledge. This flat was a perfect place to relax after a day of exploring. We'd definitely stay here again.

THISTLE STREET 1 BED APT, PRINCESS ST
A beautiful apartment for those looking to stay right in the heart of the city center, walk out the front door and a minute’s walk away you’ll find fantastic restaurants and good pubs to enjoy your evening.
The Bedroom located in the back of the apartment is extremely quiet and the gas fire in the lounge makes returning home very welcoming.
Only a 2 Minute taxi from the train station with on street parking made available. Bus and tram links are moments away.
A perfect apartment for couples or for those looking to stay within walking distance of some of Edinburgh’s best Nightlife.

Well located apt
The apartment is centrally located in a street with character. On arrival it was very clean, with the amenities described. The bed is very comfortable, the wardrobe is large (some clothes hangers would be good though - there was only 1) and the bedroom is quiet - when the extractor fan is not on. The bathroom can only be accessed via the bedroom something to consider if there are more than 2 of you. The kitchen area is fairly compact, while there is a lot of space for chopping and food prep, the overall kitchen functionality is low - it's a bit of a squeeze into the sink to do the washing up and you have to be mindful to unplug the kettle and toaster otherwise the electric flexes trail close to the hob rings. There is some cupboard space for food. The crockery and cutlery is fine and there are 2 very large stock pots and one smaller sauce pan for using on the hob. The frying pan is small and extremely scratched/worn such that you probably wouldn't want to use it. The apt has good light, the TV is huge and works well. The sofabed which I sat on as a sofa has dips in both cushions and personally I didn't find it overly comfortable to sit on. The admin arrangements are excellent as is the welcome and things to do pack. While I stayed there was a problem with the boiler extractor fan in that this would not switch off meaning that there was a constant vibration and humming in the bedroom 24 hours, which made sleeping a problem. Someone came out to look at this within a couple of hours of me reporting it on the 2nd morning I was staying and they returned the following day (my final day) to repair it. Unfortunately in doing so they seemed to disconnect the oven which I only discovered when I went to cook my dinner. These problems probably happen once in a blue moon and the point I wanted to make is that problems were dealt with quickly and they were sure to check with me when was convenient for fixers to come. If it were not for these problems I would have rated the apt with 4 stars.
On balance, I would stay again for a w/end, mainly because of the location - very central to everything, and if the sofa is ever upgraded I'd consider staying for a longer period.
Our booking and check-in process went very smoothly. Of note this is an upper floor apartment without a lift. We had arrived from the Cotswolds and had a converted barn apartment for the same price as a central Edinburgh flat. For the market it is a good value, just not to the expectations we had. I think the biggest reaso were the pictures in the listing show a bright light feel. Wherein reality the flat felt very used and dim. I would recommend this apartment as you will not finder a better location for the price.
