"The Speech house was our first stop in the UK after arriving from the US. Having never traveled to the UK before everything was new and different! The staff were extremely kind, helpful, gracious, patient and accommodating. We relied on them for information of all kinds and would have struggle mightily if not for them! The food was very good--beautifully presented and delicious. We were graciously upgraded to a larger cottage room which was a tremendous benefit since we stayed for a week. (Thank you Chaz!) The property is beautiful, historic, and interesting. The trails that were accessible directly from the Speech House were a real treat and perfect for us since we did not have a car. Internet and cell service were mostly only available in the Lodge, so we needed to readjust our thinking and adapt our normal routines, which is a good thing. In our room some of usual creature comforts were a little lacking, but being in the forest in such an historic place with wonderful people more than made up for that! We can highly recommend the Speech House, especially to foreign travelers. "

"Excellent! Very comfortable, clean, spacious, warm with a large secure garden for the dog. We really appreciated the flowers, biscuits, tea and coffee and the selection of board games. The forest is 50 metres away with good walks. The whole property looked bigger and better in real life than in the photos. Large well equipped kitchen. If you’re staying during winter the external games room does take a while to warm up but the cottage itself is toasty warm. Not a lot of amenities in the immediate area other than the forest but perfect for a restful, secluded getaway."

"My son (12yrs old), my Jack Russell and me all had the most wonderful time staying at Zion Chapel. So spacious, yet warm and cosy, so comfortable and peaceful with everything we needed in the chapel. Stepping outside directly into the stunning forest to find easy trails to walk for hours was a blessing. The dog was in heaven! We felt totally emotionally reset and recharged to head back to the city after our 4 days there. Simply magical. We will definitely be back! Thank you!"

"Fantastically equipped, clean and well laid out house in the forest. Knowing the layout of the kitchen and house, we travelled much lighter this time. Lots of walks lovely from the doorstep. This is our second stay, and the newly added family size ninja air fryer was a lovely surprise. Lots to do in the area, and other than Soudley ponds, we didn’t visit the same places as our last stay. The garden is totally secure for our escapee of a dog and a lovely little sun trap to enjoy the odd glass or two."

"Book the property primarily as a base for work - what a fantastic find. Parking for two vehicles, kitchen / diner immaculate, all well decorated and pristine. Every appliance , cutlery etc to hand , really warm and homely"

"Lovely stay, faultless check in.Great communication with host.Lovely cottage in a beautiful area, with good facilities. A handbook with instructions to work, hot tub and electric hob would have been helpful and some information on local area, shops, restaurants etc. Inside cottage was fresh and clean, bedding very, very cosy. Roll top bath a great addition.Unable to light log burner as logs too big and kindling not chopped up small enough/ no firelighters. Which was a little disappointing .Outdoor area with great large peaceful garden. Could do with a little tidy up with lots of cobwebs on patio doors. Overall a pleasant stay"

"What a hidden gem!! Beautiful location the cabin has everything you could possibly need! The views from the cabin was incredible! the chocolates and the fresh eggs from there chickens was a lovely touch ,great local walks and attractions a short drive away, I 100% recommend staying here you won’t be disappointed! We are will definitely be coming back! We got engaged in the Forest of Dean on our stay here so it will always hold a special place in our heart ❤️ Thank you so much!"
