"The house overall was very nice and we enjoyed our stay in the house. The house is surrounded by trees which was nice. We did have some issues. First we had septic odors mainly in the first floor bathroom and outside where the I assume the septic tank was located. We notified the host by email and he responded 12 hrs later and said the p-traps might be dry and need to run water in all sinks etc. Tried that and it did not help, next he said that in the half bath there was a small box of Septifix - drop two tablets into the toilet and flush. This seems to be an on going problem and should have been addressed in the "house book". The tablets helped with the odor for a while, I had to reapply a few days later.We also had issues with water pressure. Several times while taking a shower the water pressure would drop and several times stop all together. We also had low or no water pressure other times during our stay. The water pressure would eventually return but it was very annoying.When the temps dropped outside the lower level would not get warm. I believe this was an issue with other guest. Notes in the house book addressed this issued and contributed it to using the fire place, but we were not using the fire place that much.The hot water (when there was water pressure) was great, but I would recommend to anyone with young children to be mindful of how hot the water can get. I think the hot water was turned to high because on it's own someone could get burned."

"Our second time around – even better than the first. Great spot to recharge the City blues. A lovingly-restored cottage with all the high-end accoutrements. Cozy layout offering modern tasteful design touches eclectically mixed with authentic family antiques. Insanely strong water pressure. Beautiful tranquil vistas from the back screened porch and the front porch rockers. Ready-to-go firewood, kindling and starter for your private firepit (all S’mores ingredients provided). Our pup climbed to the top of Witt mountain with us and got fantastic views. The hosts have not only meticulously restored and furnished this cottage but they are also amazing stewards of the mountain itself with their labor and visual enhancements throughout the property.Leaving you with a great mystery we discovered 200 yards behind this beautiful cottage – hint: it is a classic relic from 1948 ….Amy and Mike (from Atlanta)"

"Stayed over Thanksgiving break 2025. Best family trip ever! Cabin has everything you need. Hosts were gracious to have heat on when we arrived and firewood stocked. We took full advantage of the fireplace round the clock while we were there in 30 degree weather. Grabbed a great steak for the grill from Meat and Fish in Cashiers. Ate at Happ’s and The Local.Rode horses at Arrowmont. Hiked High Falls. Fished the dock- fished the public access from the cabin up to Tuckasegee. Cut down a Christmas tree at the farm across the road. Couldn’t have asked for better. Coffee drinkers: no filters necessary! Mesh filter in coffee maker. I recommend the Pisgah Roasters ground coffee you can find in town. Yes the steps are a lot but they didn’t stop us at all. We drove in a 4x4 diesel and the driveway pull in was tight- tip: go to the second driveway entrance and make a 2-3 point turn in. "

"Everything was perfect! The cabin was super clean, beautifully decorated and we loved both fireplaces which kept us warm every day. Location was easy to get to and the roads were not bad. Can’t wait visit again. So much to do, so little time. We’ll be back. Thanks to the hosts again for the lovely stay. "

"Our stay at Mom’s Cabin was absolutely wonderful! The cabin was cozy, spotless, and filled with warmth — you can tell it’s been cared for with love. The highlight was definitely the balcony overlooking beautiful Lake Glenville — the view was breathtaking at every hour of the day.We enjoyed peaceful mornings with coffee while watching the light dance on the water, and quiet evenings surrounded by nature’s calm. The cabin had everything we needed, from a well-equipped kitchen to comfortable beds, making it the perfect mountain retreat.The hosts were welcoming, responsive, and made sure every detail was perfect. We left feeling refreshed and grateful — Mom’s Cabin is a true hidden gem by Lake Glenville!"

"View was beautiful! We really enjoyed the outdoor fireplaces. Especially liked that the firewood was brought down for us before we arrived. Big groups would love this home as there was plenty of room to spread out. We didn’t cook while we were there, but the kitchen was amazing!! We enjoyed our time here."
