I still can't get over how affordable this was--mind you, it was a last-minute one night stay. All the same, I only paid under $300 for a "junior suite" (ENORMOUS room!), with photo-snapping views of the Houston skyline. Right in the heart of a slew of fabulous restaurants and cafes, and the hotel's own bar and restaurant is worth staying in for (high quality of food, good variety, and nicely decorated interiors).
I don't know Houston very well, beyond the fact that it is HUGE, but I think I would want to stay here whenever I visit in terms of 4.5-star luxury for 3-star prices.
Staff are very friendly and welcoming; you feel like a treasured guest who stays often. Room was quiet, no noise from outside. Full pay bar in room with nice selection (but I didn't have anything).
