The place to stay in ondarribia
Fantastic. It’s a little hard to get to if you’re driving but the staff makes everything as easy as possible and the place is gorgeous, food delicious, rooms attractive and very clean.

Fabulous. Lovely old area and an easy walk to many restaurants close to that in the town. I paid to use the Paradore parking, which makes that easy, as I didn't see any other option near by. A great place for a short visit.

Lovely historic building
The stay was a great experience in a lovely historic building. It was slightly disappointing that the café bar closes early and there is not a restaurant in the building. There are many bars and restaurants within a few minutes walk.

Undergoing construction on the exterior. Little noisy in the morning. Also, difficult to get to since it’s in the middle of the old town. Lots of stairs inside so may be difficult for physically challenged.

A beautiful castle-turned parador in Hondarribia
We were lucky enough to be able find a room in this beautiful parador in Hondarribia for our last night in País Vasco. Even more luckily, we were able to upgrade our room to a fabulous suite with a cute little terrace facing the river. The room was clean and large, and well-equipped. The staff was both friendly and helpful. The hotel building is well maintained and preserves its semblance as a castle very well. It has a beautiful court yard, and there we enjoyed the wine we bought from the hotel cafeteria and enjoy. Located right in the middle of the historic district and is in a walking distance to a fishing town where good tapas bars and restaurants are located.

Beautiful place
While the place is amazing, both the old building and the modern room, the service is less than ideal, especially during the weekend. Breakfast has a lot to improve to match the environment and the cost of staying in this hotel.

Generally v good. Parking expensive.
Hondarribia is a very pleasant town which is great as a base for the area whilst having some very good bars and restaurants. The parador hotel was very clean, service was very good and the rooms were comfortable. The negatives were: 1. Parking was an expensive 16 Euros per day. 2. Standard rooms were expensive but you did not have an external view. You overlooked the central courtyard.

The building is beautifully restored with gorgeous covered courtyard and a terrace with gorgeous views of the bay. The beds were very comfortable. The rooms were a good size, as were the bathrooms. Staff were very accommodating and helpful at every turn.

Staying at the castle was a treat, but the staff were not friendly. Only the man who helped to check us in and our server at breakfast smiled and were pleasant. Others at the front desk acted as though they were bothered by having us there. The people of Spain and Basque Country have been the best in the world except for this area.

It is in a very old and cool castle and the staff was great. The little town is quaint and scenic. It is 30 min bus ride (reasonable cost of 3-5 euros) to San Sebastian and the French town across the harbor seemed nice.

Truly unique hotel in a beautiful town. The building is amazing, felt like I was in Game of Thrones episode. Breakfast buffet is continental style as you might expect with a great selection of breads, pastries, fruit and cheese. Also do some hot egg dishes. I had view of courtyard from room. Was pretty impressive. The room was warm and cosy. Only downside was bed was bit hard but I slept pretty well.

Overall very disappointing. Historic, visually impressive property, great view, however, hard even for a local taxi driver to get close to, extremely noisy in our room (sounded a party going on above us), breakfast was average and to top it off it was super expensive. Good property to look at but not value for money!
