About this property
Escape & enjoy the stars in the wilderness of the Scottish hills by a sea loch
Sadly at present we are no longer renting out this property although we offer B&B in The Stables. Please visit our website.
Put down your phone, laptop and enjoy the stars, the quiet & dramatic scenery from the remoteness of the Old Cottage, Kinloch Hourn - the gateway to wilderness set at the end of a 22 mile road in the midst of the Scottish hills.
An ideal location to get back in touch with your friends and family without the distractions of modern day life. Set deep in the hills at the head of Loch Hourn, on the Cape Wrath Trail, this is an ideal position for walking, fishing, swimming (if you are brave!), painting or just staying cosy and warm by the wood burning stove reading a book.
Recently fully refurbished, the cottage has lost none of its charm and is now available for self-catering for bookings of 7 nights or more during the summer months and from 4 nights during October to April. The cottage benefits from underfloor heating on the ground floor, central heating on the first floor, plentiful hot water, Hypnos mattresses, feather pillows and duvets for the ultimate comfort. Dinner and packed lunches can also be provided by prior arrangement.
All prices include bed linen, towels, wood for the fire.
As a guideline, the cottage is available from 4 pm the day of arrival and would need to be vacated by 11.00 am on the morning of departure.

Amazing place to experience the Scottish Highlands
We stayed in the farmhouse. It takes you time to travel down the road, but encounters with the highland cows and the views will make your trip an adventure. The B&B and farmhouse are well comfortably furnished, clean and well kept. The management is friendly and offers great advice for walks and day-trips. The food is wholesome and gives comfort after a great hike. You will have your pick on routes for a hike from 2 up to 8 hours. And none are the same, the landscape is spectacular and can challenge all popular destinations. Bring your midges spray, but you’ll soon be captured by the views and forget these little challenges. The hikes can challenge the inexperienced walker and do request prober gear. There is a calmness to be staying of the grid and in a bit of isolation. For us as a family of four, with to student sons the ideal place to enjoy nature, hiking and be with each other. And Harriets sticky toffee pudding is a rear treat!

Wonderful experience
We spent 3 days in the remote Kinloch Hourn cottage. We loved the peaceful and disconnected atmosphere, the wonderful sceneries, the wildlife, and of course the kindness of the people we met, in particular Tony. The cottage is perfect, cosy and full of charm, also well equiped. We will remember our stay for a long time.
We booked this cottage because of it's proximity to a group of Knoydart Munros, but were extremely pleasantly surprised by it's layout and the quality of its facilities, fixtures and fittings.
The landlords Harriet and John were very approachable and very supportive after one of us had an accident.
We would recommend this cottage to any Munro baggers or anyone wanting a stay in this part of the Knoydart peninsula.
A local red deer stag, aka Callum, who used to appear in case we had any apples going spare added to the magic. We saw otter, fox and stoat.
The cottage is beautiful and very comfortable, and is in a stunning and magical setting. The hosts are warm and welcoming which makes it a very relaxing and peaceful place to have a break from 'normal life'.
Lovely cottage. Very comfortable. Had everything we needed. Very friendly and helpful hosts Vicky and Iain. Stunning location. Great walks. Make sure that you take everything that you will need for your stay as it wonderfully remote.
