"We stayed here as a young family with 5 kids ages 3-13. When we booked this hotel I couldn't really find any reviews that described the beach/ocean since it's a l beachfront hotel so I'm hoping I will help paint a picture. The beach sits right across the non busy street-very close walk. The sand is dark and incredibly soft and goes on forever. There are some chairs and tables (not many maybe 6 chairs) under some shade to sit on. There are signs that say no swimming at this beach because of the rip tides. We swam as anyways but kept a close eye on our kids. We reached boogie boards for the 5 days we stayed at "the surfer factory" in Jaco. We boogie boarded and swam across from the hotel a couple times and enjoyed it but felt safer doing these things at Jaco Beach which isn't far. The waves there are perfect for boogie boarding and the water is so warm to swim in. There are no seashells at Hermosa Beach (the beach in front of the hotel) or Jaco and there is no snorkeling. Boogie boarding and surfing is what it's all about. Oh, and there are tons of Halloween Crabs at Hermosa Beach which was really cool. As for the hotel itself, the rooms were cleaned very well daily, the pool was nice, the breakfast that was included was a sit down hot breakfast and although there weren't many options, it filled us up and was satisfying. We saw many red macaw's in the area including two right out our balcony the first day. "

"Another great getaway at Hotel Pumilio. The staff is always welcoming and accommodating. We love that the location is away from the crowds but still minutes from Jaco beach or Herradura. This was our 2nd stay this year and 6th stay overall. Can’t wait to visit again! "

"Great place beach front with a beautiful pool "

"This was a great hotel. It was clean and roomy. The pool was gorgeous. The restaurant was fast and served great food and drinks. It is right on the beach. We enjoyed walking the beach in the mornings. We also saw several tropical birds, including the scarlet macaw in the trees across the street. There were at least 4 macaws in the trees. It was amazing! It’s also a very short drive to Carara National Park (20-30 minutes), where we hiked and saw monkeys, a poison dark frog, scarlet macaws, agoutis, and several other birds and iguanas. Also, the manager was very helpful, friendly, and attentive. "
